DIRECTIONS
3X3 RIBBING
Using long tail method and MC, CO 48 (54, 60, 66, 72, 78, 84, 90) sts. Place marker to join, being careful not to twist. Rnd 1: [K 3, P 3] around. Repeat Rnd 1 4 (5, 6, 7, 8, 8, 9, 9) more times. You should have a total of 5 (6, 7, 8, 9, 9, 10, 10) rows of ribbing.
HAT BODY
Rnd 1: With MC, K all sts. Rnd 2: Change to CC, K all sts. Rnd 3 - 6: With MC, K all sts.. Repeat Rnds 2-6 until hat measures 3.5 (4, 4.5, 5.5, 6, 6.5, 7, 7) inches.
SHAPE CROWN
Switch to DPNs when necessary, and continue working in stripe pattern through decreases. Rnd 1: (K4, K2tog) around. Rnd 2 (and all even rows): K all sts around. Rnd 3: (K3, K2tog) around. Rnd 5: (K2, K2tog) around. Rnd 7: (K1, K2tog) around. Rnd 9: K2tog around.
FINISHING
Break yarn, leaving a long tail. Use darning needle to thread yarn through remaining sts. Pull yarn tight and secure. Weave in all ends
