Knit across till you reach your previous k2tog, knit that stitch and the first stitch that you left unworked on previous row together, knit 1. Finish with a right side row
Gussets
Pick up 14 stitches along first side of heel gusset using a crochet hook placing on a new needle, follow pattern for instep, then pick up 14 stitches along opposite side of gusset, placing them on another new needle, knit 1 round, following pattern on instep needle and plain stockinette on all other needles. Now, follow the following for the heel gusset needles On the gusset needles (you should have stitches on 4 needles for now) On gusset 1, knit to last three stitches on needle, ssk, k1 On gusset 2, knit 1, k2tog, knit to end of needle Next round knit all stitches Repeat these two rounds for gusset decreases
Heel shaping
While you are working the gusset decreases, on heel bottom needle Knit 1 row Knit 1 k2tog, knit to last 3 stitches, ssk, knit 1 Repeat these two rows till only 12 stitches remain on heel needle
Sole and arch shaping
At this point you can divide heel stitches and place six on each of the gusset needles and work on 3 needles. Continue heel gusset decreases until you have 9 stitches on each of the gusset needles. Once gusset decreases are done, you will have 18 stitches for sole of the sock; at this point work the following: Needle 1, knit 1, m1, k to end of row, knit instep pattern, knit needle 3 till 1 stitch remains on needle, m1 knit last stitch. Knit a around (following pattern on instep stitches) Repeat these 2 rows 3 times, till you are back to 12 stitches on each of the sole needles. (48 stitches total on needles), continue rounds knitting the stitches on needles 1 and 3, and following cable pattern 1 for instep until sock just barely covers baby toe when you try it on.
Toe decreases
Knit 1 round, on all three needles (cable pattern ends here) On needle 1 knit to last 3 stitches, ssk, knit 1, on needle 2, k1, k2tog, knit to last 3 stitches, ssk, knit 1, needle 3, k1, k2tog, knit to end of needle Knit 1 round Repeat till you have 12 stitches on instep needle and 6 stitches on each of the sole needles. Place all the bottom toe stitches on 1 needle. Graft stitches together using Kitchener stitch. Weave in ends.
Cable Pattern 1
