Mr Ouille (not with your ponchooo!) Reference to a cult French movie!
This is not exactly a pattern, but rather a recipe for a top down turtleneck poncho that you can adapt to your needs This poncho can fit a child over eight years as well as an adult Materials Circular needles 4.5mm (US 7) for turtleneck 5mm (US 8) for body I've used 40cm (16") needles for the neck but you can use only 80cm (32") needles using "magic loop” (Google is your friend...) About 750m (821 y) of bulky yarn adapted to needles One ball of novelty yarn for the border 4 markers
Instructions
Cast on loosely 52 stitches on 4.5mm (US 7) circular needle Join in the round without twisting stitches and work K2 P2 ribbing for 20cm (8"), then use 5mm (US 8) circular needle Place marker for the beginning of row, knit 16 sts for front, place marker, knit 10 sts for first shoulder, place marker, knit 16 sts for back, place marker, knit 10 sts for the other shoulder Then make 8 increases across next round (using your favourite way...), one stitch before and after each marker, as following:
Increases
. Every 2 rows for about 15cm (6") . Every 3 rows for about 10cm (4") . Every 4 rows for about 10cm (4") . Every 5 rows for about 5cm (2") . Every 6 rows for about 5cm (2") Then work even in stockinette up to 5cm (2") of desired length Holding the 2 yarns together (main and novelty yarns) knit for 10 cm (4") At desired length, bind off loosely The edge naturally rolls up You can lengthen or shorten the garment as you want, mine is a nice cosy poncho on my 8 years daughter, and a pretty capelet on me :-) For smaller children, you can also get a smaller poncho reducing the size of needles and using a thinner yarn... Everything is possible!

And it is even funny for twirling :-)
