Instructions
Leaving an approximately 24"/61 cm long tail of main yarn, use scrap yarn and provisionally cast on 29 sts. work flat in lace pattern until scarf measures approximately 60"/152 cm in length from cast on edge, or until scarf reaches desired length and an approximately 10"/25 cm long tail of yarn remains, ending after working a Rs row. Leave scarf on needle with yarn attached. Lay scarf flat with RS facing up and working edge closest to you and fold ends of scarf in to meet at the middle. Slip provisionally cast on edge off of scrap yarn and onto the other straight needle, positioning both working ends of the needles to the right and hold both needles parallel. Working from right to left with tapestry needle and attached yarn from the cast on edge, thread needle through the first 2 sts on the near needle (working edge), thread needle through the first 2 sts on the far needle (provisional edge). [ Thread needle back down through the left hand st of the previously threaded sts and through the next 2 sts, then thread needle through the next 2 sts from the far needle ], repeating across until all sts are grafted together. Leave a long tail and cut yarn. Tie off and weave in tails. Soak and block gently. Grafting illustrated with blue yarn @ 2014 Maria Olson. All rights reserved. For personal use only.
