ABBREVIATIONS
K: Knit K2tog: Knit two stitches together. P: Purl SSK: Slip 2 sts, as if to knit, insert left needle into these 2 sts from left to right and knit them together. St(s): Stitch(es) M1: Insert left needle from front to back under the bar that runs between the sts. Knit the st through the back loop.
INSTRUCTIONS
Cuff
Cast on 20 sts. Divide onto 3 needles and join in a round, being careful not to twist. Rounds 1-15: \*K1, p1; repeat from \* around. Rounds 16-18: Knit. Thumb gusset increases: Rounds 19-22: M1, k1, m1, knit around. Knit 3 rounds. Rounds 23-26: M1, k3, m1, knit around. Knit 3 rounds. Rounds 27-30: M1, k5, m1, knit around. Knit 3 rounds.
Fingerless Version: Slip first 7 sts onto holder for thumb. Cast on 1 st over thumb. Knit 5 rounds. Bind off. Convertible Mittens Version: Slip first 7 sts onto holder for thumb. Cast on 1 st over thumb. Left hand: K1, p10, k 9. Knit 5 rounds. Bind off. Right hand: K 9, p10, k1. Knit 5 rounds. Bind off. Thumb: Pick up 2 sts at top of thumb opening, knit around sts from holder - 9 sts. Knit 4 rounds. Bind off.
Convertible Mitten Tops:
Cast on 10 sts, pick up and knit 10 sts from 10 purl stitches on back of hand. Join being careful not to twist. Rounds 1 - 10: Knit. Round 11 (Decrease tip): \*Ssk, k6, k2tog; repeat from \* around. Round 12: \*Ssk, k4, k2tog; repeat from \* around. Round 13: \*Ssk, k2, k2tog; repeat from \* around. With tapestry needle and matching yarn, graft top of mitten.
