Rebecca Cowl or Neck Warmer
by Jennifer Uribe (12/30/12) Tw-ln Stitches Blog Inspired by one of my favorite blanket patterns, this cowl is flexible in length and width. Make it as long or short as you like. The pattern is based on a multiple of 4. If you use a beginning chain of 52, you will end up with a snuggly neck warmer. A beginning chain of 84 will give you a lovely longer cowl to showcase the pattern. Before you begin, decide whether you would like a longer or shorter cowl. My cowl is not wide as I live in a warmer climate. By continuing the pattern, you will have a thick, chunky cowl of beauty!
Supplies:
1-2 skeins Bernat's Softee Chunky yarn or Loops & Thread's Charisma Yarn L hook (8.0 mm) tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Stitches:
doublecrochet singlecrochet slip stitch front post double crochet cluster stitch: Yarn over, insert hook through both loops of stitch below, pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops of the DC. Yarn over, insert hook through both loops of the SAME stitch below, pull up a loop. Yarn over, pullthrough 2 loops of the DC. Yarn over, pull through all 3 loops remaining. Gauge: Is not important for this pattern, however, you may want to use a larger hook for your beginning chain. The pattern itself is loose and stretchy and you will want to avoid too tight of a chain.
Pattern:
Chain 52. Slip stitch the last chain to the beginning chain to form a circle. Make sure not to twist the Chain. Row 1: Chain one. SC in the same stitch and in each stitch around (52 sc). Slip stitch to the first SC to join. Do not turn. @2012 Jennifer Uribe - twinstitches.blogspot.com - Rebecca Cowl Row 2: Chain 3. \*Skip one stitch. In the second stitch, cluster, chain 2, cluster. Skip one stitch. In the next stitch, double crochet.\* Repeat from \* to \* eleven times. Skip one stitch. In the second stitch, cluster, chain 2, cluster. Skip one stitch. Insert your hook behind and around the chain 3 and slip stitch to form a front post stitch and complete the round. To make the front post stitch around the original chain three, insert your hook around and behind the chain 3 stitch and pull through a loop.

Use that loop to create a slip stitch. Then chain 3.

This will mimic a front post stitch and make your joining row invisible. Row 3 - 5: Repeat Row 2. (Or continue row 2 to your desired height) Final Row: Chain 1 and \*single crochet in the next space, 2 single crochets in the chain 2 space. One single crochet in the next. Front post single crochet around the post from the row below\*. Continue from \* to \* around. To join, front post slip stitch around the original chain 1. Chain 1. Fasten off and weave in ends. Once complete, you can wear the cowl with the front post stitches out or flip the cowl so that the front post stitches are on the inside. It's a double sided cowl!
