Flame Chevron Scarf by Rebecca LaRose http://ambrosiaandbliss.blogspot.com http://ambrosiaandbliss.etsy.com
This scarf is an interesting knit. The flame chevron lace pattern is rhythmic and easy to follow and creates a great texture as the stitches dance back and forth like flames. Ravelry link: http:/www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/flame-chevron-scarf

The pictured example was knit with Araucania Ranco Multy sock yarn in color 309 on US 2's. The yarn is dyed to the stitch, which means it doesn't stripe, but instead gives a beautiful mottled appearance that doesn't obscure the stitch work. A semi-solid such as regular Ranco or Dream in Color would also make a beautiful scarf.
Materials:
$35\mathrm{O}$ yds fingering weight yarn (finer or heavier yarn is fine, but the number of pattern repeats may need to be adjusted.) As this may curl, wool or a wool blend that can be blocked is highly recommended. A fairly tight gauge is suggested to show of the beautiful texture of this lace pattern. Cast on 35 stitches using long-tail cast on. The pattern stitch is a multiple of $7^{+}\ 4$ If additional repeats are desired, add 7 stitches. The 35 cast on stitches includes $5$ knit stitches on either side to create a garter stitch border and three repeats of the pattern.
Knit 5 rows and begin pattern.
Repeat stitches between () three times per row. ssk - slip slip knit (left-leaning decrease) k2tog - knit two together (right-leaning decrease)
R1 and all odd rows: k5, purl 25, k5
Begin and end all rows with k5.
R2: k3 (ssk, k5, yo) k1 R4: k3 (ssk, k4, yo, k1) k1 R6: k3 (ssk, k3, yo, k2) k1 R8: k3 (ssk, k2, yo, k3) k1 R10: k3 (ssk, k1, yo, k4) k1 R12: k3 (ssk, yo, k5) k1 R14: k1 (yo, k5, k2tog) k3 R16: k2 (yo, k4, k2tog, k1) k2 R18: k3 (yo, k3, k2tog, k2) k1 R20: k4 (yo, k2, k2tog, k3) R22: k5 (yo, k1, k2tog, k4) - end last repeat with k3 R24: k6 (yo, k2tog, k5) - end last repeat with k3
Repeat rows 1-24 until scarf is near desired length.
Finish with 5 rows knit.
350 yards will make a scarf measuring approximately 6" x 90"
