Any yarn or hook can be used as gauge does not matter. I used: 3 balls of King Cole Bamboo Cotton Size 3.50mm crochet hook Finished size approx 6% inches wide by 5 foot 9 inches long Stitches used: British Terms Htr =Half treble Tr = treble Fptr= Front post treble (treble worked round the stalk of the stitch below by putting the hook through from front round the back to the front and picking up a loop of yarn to take back and complete the stitch) Bptr = back post treble (treble worked round the stalk of the stitch below by putting the hook through from back round the front of the stitch to the back and picking up loop of yarn to take back and complete the stitch) Fpdtr = front post double treble (double treble (yarn round hook twice before putting hook through as for Fptr) Bpdtr = back post double treble (double treble (yarn round hook twice before putting hook through as for Bptr) Pattern Chain 37 Row 1: htr in 3'd chain from hook, htr in next 34 chain, turn Row 2: 2ch (for this and all following rows 2 ch counts as htr), fptr round next 2 sts, \*bptr round next 2 sts, fptr round next 4 sts, bptr round next 4 sts, fptr round next 4 sts, \*\* repeat from \* to \*\*, bptr round next 2 sts, fptr round next 3 sts, turn Row 3: 2 ch, bptr round next 2 sts , \*fptr round next 2 sts, bptr round next 4 sts, skip next 2 sts, fpdtr round next 2 sts, fpdtr round first skipped st, fpdtr round second skipped st, bptr round next 4 sts\*\* repeat from \* to \*\* , fptr round next 2 sts, fptr round next 3 sts, turn Row 4: As per Row 2 being careful to ensure that you use bptr in the 4 dtrs that formed the twist in the cable in row 3 Rows 5 & 6: as per Row 4 Pattern is formed by rows 3 - 6. Continue to desired length ending with row 5
