IMPORTANT NOTE:
Rows 27 and 35 of the right-hand chart feature very long floats. You'll need to "catch" these floats in your knitting every 5 or 6 stitches to keep tension even and prevent the floats from getting caught on fingers. Change to larger needles, and begin working from Chart, changing colors as necessary. Continue working as establisehd until you have completed Row 23 of Chart. For the right mitt: Work in pattern for the first 24 sts of Row 24 of Chart. K next 8 sts with waste yarn; slip these 8 sts back onto your left needle and k them again, this time in pattern. Following chart, k the remaining 16 sts. For the left mitt: Work in pattern for the first 16 sts of Row 24 of Chart. K next 8 sts with waste yarn; slip these 8 sts back onto your left needle and k them again, this time in pattern. Following chart, k the remaining 24 sts. Next, continue working in pattern until you have completed the Chart. Change to smaller needles and work 5 rounds of 2x2 rib using MC yarn. BO all sts.
THUMB:
Carefully removing waste yarn, place 16 thumb sts on smaller needles. Using CC1 yarn, work 5 rounds 2x2 rib. BO all sts. Weave in all ends and block.
