Finishing:

Seams: with size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook and variegated color yarn, assemble the blocks as pictured with RS facing. Work 2 horizontal seams and 2 vertical seams as follows to join the blocks together: Working left to right through both thicknesses, \*rev sc, ch 2, sk 1. Rep from \* across, working a ch 2 between blocks. Work a rev sc in the last st to finish the seam. When all 4 seams are complete, fasten off and weave in ends. Edging: Rnd 1: With RS facing, sc evenly around the entire blanket, working 3 sc into each corner. Join with a sl st to beg sc. Do not fasten off or turn. Rnd 2: ch 1 and work in seam pattern: \*rev sc, ch 2, sk 1. Rep from \* around the entire blanket, working a rev sc into the last st. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Half doulole crochet (hdc)

Yo, insert hook into the indicated st and pull up a loop (you will have 3 loops on your hook). Yo and draw through all 3 loops on your hook. 1 hdc st completed.

Color changes

Work the last st to the last step, but do not complete the st. (For hdc sts, you will have 3 loops on your hook.) Fasten off and drop the old yarn color behind your work. Draw the new yarn color through (the 3 loops) to complete the stitch. Continue working with the new yarn color as usual.

Work the 2 horizontal seams and the 2 vertical seams in the direction of the arrows. (Lefties will work in the opposite direction.)

Reverse single crochet (rev sc)

For right handers: Instead of working from right to left like you normally do for sc, rev sc is worked from left to right and the stitch is made exactly the same way as a sc. Insert the hook into a st, yo and pull up a loop (you will have 2 loops on your hook). Yo, and pull through both loops on hook. 1 rev sc made. Now, insert your hook into the next indicated st to the right of the one you just made and continue working this way. For left handers: Follow the above instructions working in the reverse direction (begin working right to left).
