Miss Felicity Lemon is a charachbter in Agatha Cbristie's Hercule Poirot books. In the books she is described as ugly but effcient secretary ofHercule Poirot. In the TV series Agatba Cbristie's Poirot (portrayed by Pauline Moran) she is still super organized and efficient but also pretty andfeminine. These socks got their inspirationfrom this Miss Lemon: they are practical but still feminine. Yay for Miss Lemon - she is awesome! Yarn Knitlob's Lair Tuulen tytar (100 % merino, 100 g / 400 m) or Knitlob's Lair Vainämoinen (75 % wool, 25 % nylon, 100 g / 400 m) Sample is knitted with Tuulen tytar in color Teksas. Needles 2.5-2.75 mm or to get gauge Gauge 32 sts and 44 rnds / 10 cm in stockinette st Notions Yarn needle Size Women's 37-38, length is adjustable Notes Both the socks are worked in the same way,but use Instep Chart Lefforlef sock and Instep Chart Rightforrigt sock. The patern is written for using set of 5 double point needles but it is easy to use Magic Loop Method as well. Leg
Cast on 60 sts. Divide sts on four needles. Being careful not to twist, join and start working in the round. Set-up round: \*p2, k3\* repeat to end of rnd. Start working with the Leg Chart or written instructions. Repeat pattern 12 times every row. Work chart rnds 1-4 20 times or until leg is desired length. Stop after rnd 4.
Heel
Heel is worked with 28 sts, other stitches are left on hold for instep. Heel Flap Turn. Sl1, p27. Turn. Row 1 (RS) [sl1, k1] repeat to end. Row 2 (WS) sll, p to end. Repeat these 2 rows for a total of 15 times. Heel turn Row 1 sl1, k16, ssk, k1, turn. Row 2 sl1, p7,p2tog, p1, turn Row 3 sl1, k until 1 st before gap, ssk, k1, turn. Row 4 sl1, p until 1 st before gap, p2tog, p1, turn. Repeat rows 3-4 until all heel sts have been worked. Knit through 18 heel sts.
Gussett
Using needle which is now holding heel sts (needle 1), pick up and knit 15 sts from the heel flap edge and 1 extra st between heel and instep. Work through Instep Chart (left or right) round 1 (needles 2 and 3). Pick up and knit 1 st between instep and heel and then 15 sts from the heel flap edge. Knit 9 sts from the heel to this needle (needle 4). 32 instep sts and 50 sole sts. Rnd 1 knit through sts on needle 1 until 3 sts left, k2tog, k1. Work appropriate rnd from the chart or written instructions through needles 2 and 3. On needle 4, k1, ssk, k to end. Rnd 2 knit all sole sts and work according to the chart on instep. Repeat rows 1-2 until 60 sts left, 32 sts for instep and 28 sts for sole.
Foot
Continue knitting sole sts and working according to the chart on instep. After Instep Chart is worked through, knit all sts. When foot is 4 cm shorter than desired length (or your pinkie toe is covered), proceed to toe decreases.
Toe decreases
Slip first st on needle 2 to needle 1 and last st on needle 3 to needle 4. 30 sts for both instep and sole. Rnd 1 Needles 1 and 3: k until 3 sts left on ndl 1, k2tog, k1. Needles 2 and 4: k1, ssk, k to end. Rnd 2 Knit all sts. Repeat rnds 1-2 for a total of 6 times and then repeat only rnd 1, until 20 sts left, 10 sts for both instep and sole. Knit through sts on ndl 1. Graft sts together using Kitchener Stitch. Weave in ends and block if desired.
