Abigail's Striped Hat
Materials: Size U.S. 3 DPNs needles (or size needed to obtain gauge) Color A: pink light weight (3) yarn Color B: White light weight (3) yarn Stitch marker, or scrap yarn to to mark beginning of rnds Yarn needle Scissors \*\*My choice was Patons : Beehive Baby Sport in colors 09420 and 09007 Sizes: Preemie (baby, toddler) Gauge: 33sts and32rows $=4"$ Pattern notes: I work the carried yarn in the back of my work every other stitch. With Color A, Cast on 110(130,150) and divide over 3 dpns evenly. Rnd 1: Join, making sure no stitches are twisted. Knit around. Rnds 2-10: Knit around. Rnds 11-13: $^{*}\mathsf{K}\mathsf{5}$ , P5. Repeat from \* around. Body: \*With Color A K5, With Color B K5. Repeat from \* around. Repeat body for 4"(4 1/2" 5") Decreasing Rnds Dec Rnd 1: K3, K2tog. $\ast\mathsf{K}8$ , K2tog. Repeat from \* around. (You will end with K5 in Color A) Dec Rnd 2: K2, K2tog. $\ast\mathsf{K}7$ , K2tog. Repeat from \*around. Dec Rnd 3: K1, K2tog. $\ast\mathsf{K}6$ , K2tog. Repeat from \*around. Dec Rnd 4: K2tog. $^{*}\mathsf{K}\mathsf{5}$ , K2tog. Repeat from \*around. Dec Rnd 5: $*_{\mathsf{K}4}$ , K2tog. Repeat from \*around. You will be working in Color A till end of project. Dec Rnd 6: $^{*}\mathsf{K}3$ , K2tog. Repeat from \*around. Dec Rnd 7: $\ast\mathsf{K}2$ , K2tog. Repeat from \*around. Dec Rnd 8: $\ast\mathsf{K}1$ , K2tog. Repeat from \* around. Dec Rnd 9: K2tog around. Dec Rnd 10: K2tog around. Take a yarn needle and draw through remaining loops, draw tight, weave in ends. To create brim: Using Color A, fold up stockinette stitch on bottom, to top of rib, and sew in place. Finish off and weave in ends. Enjoy!!!! P.S.
