Peacly Lemon Sorbet Wrap.

DeborahTomasello I love peach and yellow together. There's just something so summery and happifying about the combc The Peachy Lemon Sorbet Wrap was first published as the Fern Lace Wedge. I am re-introducing it as a pattern and kit using Colorworks by Debi 50/50 cotton/Tencel blend yarn. ( You can request a different colorway for your kit. Just ask me!) This is a wedge-shaped shawlette that can be worked in any gauge and knit to virtually any size. You can use the blend I designed for this project, or you can choose Merino or a blend of your own. And you can use whatever needle size you want--the larger the needle, the drapier the wedge. Dramatic increases occur on one side only, creating a curve that allows the piece to drape naturally around the neck and shoulders. The cover project was knit using a 50/50 cotton/Tencel blend and a #6 needle. I will show gauge for the wedge shown above, just to give you an idea. You can add beads, too, if you desire. Size: TBD by knitter. The cover wedge measures approx. 52" across bottom after blocking. Depth from bottom to to at longest part is 35". Materials: One 400-yd ball of Colorworks by Debi 50/50 cotton/Tencel blend yarn—colorway: Peachy Lemon Sorbet, or knitter's choice. (Order more yarn for larger wrap.) Long #6 circular needle--piece is worked flat, but long circular needle accommodates large number of sts Stitch marker 6mm beads and crochet hook for bead application, optional. Gauge: TBD by knitter. Gauge is not critical here, but is the choice the knitter..for a denser wedge with less drape, use a smaller needle. For a looser wedge with more drape, use a larger needle. For a larger wedge, keep working the chart until you achieve the size you want. The cover wedge comprises 200 sts worked on a #6 needle to end up with 52" span after blocking. (NOTE: There was enough yarn left to have made it a few inches longer.)
Abbreviatons: K = knit
P= purl YO = yarn over K2TOG = knit 2 sts together SSK = slip 2 sts knitwise, and then knit them from the right-hand needle PSSO = pass slipped st off Sl1-K1-PSSO = slip a stitch, kntiwise, knit a stitch, pass slipped stitch off K-TBL = knit through the back loop Bm1 = bumpless m1 = a modified KFB increase that hides the increase bump on the back of your work. See video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syFeOy1B9ok Bm1p = bumpless m1 purlwise. Works the same way as a bm1, but you purl, reorient the st leg and purl again in the same st, rather than knit. Represented by an "M" (red) in the chart.
NOTES: Before you begin
●lf using Colorworks by Debi un-plied yarns, watch tensioning so that you use all strands evenly. You will get the hang of this after just a few rows. Sharp needles help to ensure you pick up both strands with every st. If you find one strand sagging, loosen your hold and it should even out. If it doesn't even out, you might need to cut the sagging thread and re-tie to the right length. Continue, holding threads more loosely. ●YO before a purl st: Be sure to wrap your yarn all the way around the needle for this type of yo. ●YO after a purl st: Simply keep your yarn where it is (in the front of your work) and knit the next st. This creates an automatic yo. WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS: Using a #6 needle, CO 5 sts. Row 1: k-tbl. (5 sts) Row 2: k3, p1, yo p1. (6 sts) Row 3: k1, yo, k2, place marker, k3.
