Row 27: If you want to continue the CB4B's up your palm then continue working in established pattern. However, if you want a smooth palm, then beginning with this row for the next 4 pattern rows of 1 or 9: CB4B, P2, FCC, P2, CB4B, P2, CB2B, P2, (K4, P2 twice).

Gusset Rows

The increase rounds for the gusset take place on the even numbered rows so you aren't cabling and increasing all on thesameround. Row 28: Work in established pattern for 28 stitches. Place marker. Increase one stitch purlwise either by lifting the tol strand between the stitches front to back with your left needle and purling into the back of the stitch or by purling into the front and back of the stitch. K2, increase one stitch purlwise, place marker and continue in established pattern. Row 29: Work in pattern; slip the markers and purl the stitches you just increased. Row 30: Work in established pattern to marker, slip marker, increase one stitch purlwise, P1, K2, P1, increase one stitch purlwise, slip marker, continue in established pattern. Row 31: Work in pattern; slip the markers and purl the stitches you just increased. Continue working alternating increase and plain rounds while continuing to work in the established FCC pattern on the rest of the glove until there are 14 stitches (12 purl) in between the markers. Make sure you are continuing to CB2B every Row 1 and Row 9 up the thumb gusset to match where the FCC's cross and to NOT cable up the palm. Row 40: Continue in pattern without increasing; (you should be on pattern row 8)) Row 41: Work in pattern across to markers; remove and slip the 14 gusset stitches onto a holder. Cast on 4 stitches using the backwards loop or other favorite method, then continue working across row. You should now have 48 Stitches. Row 42: Work in pattern to the 4 new stitches; K4, continue in pattern till the end. These four stitches will now be a CB4B instead of aCB2B. Continue working in pattern until you have worked through the FCC pattern 3 % times; on the 4th FCC pattern row 9 (Row 57 if you're still counting!) resume CB4B's on the palm. Work until you have worked through the FCC pattern 4 times in total. Work 5 rows in established rib. Bind off.

Thumbs

Place the 14 stitches from the waste yarn on two needles and purl across while doing a CB2B on the two knit stitches. Pick up and purl 1 stitch, pick up and knit 4 from where you cast on, pick up and P1. Slip the last purl stitch to the first needle and join in the round. Work in P7, K2, P7, K4 rib for 7 rounds. On round eight P7, CB2B, P7, K4. Work 4 more rows of rib; cast off in knit. Weave in all ends neatly, and if this is the first glove cast on the second one while you are still excited about finishing the first one. When you knit the left glove, be sure to pay attention to the slight differences from the right glove!

Left Glove:

CO 44 stitches. Distribute them as for right glove. Join into the round being careful not to twist.

As for right glove, continue working in pattern until you have worked through the FCC pattern 3 %2 times; on the 4th FCC pattern row 9 (Row 57 if you're still counting!) resume CB4B's on the palm. Work until you have worked through the FCC pattern 4 times in total. Work 5 rows in established rib. Bind off. Work thumb as for right glove.
