STEGOSAURUS PATTERN

MATERIALS
Intermediate- Experience Finished Size: Using 4 ply/ Fingering cotton and Hook size B1 the STEGOSAURUS should be approx 13 cm / 5 inches long from head to tail and 6cm/2.5 inches high
Pattern Stitches
You will need to know the following stitches- see directions at end. slst = slip stitch ch = chain sc = single crochet hdc= half double crochet dc = double crochet 2sc tog = 2 single crochet together 2dc tog = 2 double crochet together Cotton Hook Size 3 ply/super fine 2.00mm /4 steel hook Amount- 2.00 gram 4 ply/ fine 2.25 mm/B 1 5ply /light 3.50 mm /E4 8 ply/ medium 3.75 -4.50mm/F5- G6 10-12 ply/ bulky 5.00 - 5.50mm/H8-19 12 - 16ply + furs, 5.50-8.00 mm/l9 - etc/ super K101/2 bulky Small amounts contrast for spikes

Foundation: 27 ch turn Row 1: 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each ch to end, 1ch turn (26sc) Row 2: 1sc in next 20sc, 1 ch turn (20sc) Row 3: 2sc tog,1sc in each sc to end, 1ch turn Row 4: 1sc in next 17 sc, 2sc tog, 1ch turn Row 5: 2sc tog,1sc in each sc to end, 1 ch turn Row 6: 2sc tog,1sc in next 13 sc, 2sc tog,1ch turn Row 7: 2sc tog,1sc in next 11 sc, 2sc tog,1ch turn Row 8: miss 1sc, 2sc tog,1sc in next 8sc,2sc tog, 1ch turn Row 9: miss 1sc, 2sc tog,1sc in next 5sc,2sc tog, 1ch turn Row 10: miss 1sc, 2sc tog,1sc in next 2sc,2sc tog. Head
Rejoin cotton in 2nd sc from end row 2, 1 ch,1sc in each next 5 sc, 1ch turr 2sc tog, 1sc in next 3 sc, 1ch DO NOT TURN working 1st slst in sc of row 2 , work slst to top of row 10,2sc in each of next 3 sc,slst to end row 2. do not fasten off Tail Foundation: 13 ch turn slst in2nd,3rd and 4th chain from hook,1sc in next 3ch,1hdc in each next 3 ch,1dc in next ch,2dc tog over next 2ch, slst in 1st ch of foundation ch,1ch DONOTTURN
Back Leg
Row 1: \*1sc in next 3 foundation ch,1ch turn Row2: 1sc in each next 3sc, 1ch turn Row3: 1sc in next 2sc,(1sc,2dc,1sc)in next sc, slst in side row 1 leg.\*
2nd Back Leg
Row 1: slst in next foundation ch, 1sc in each next 4ch,1ch turn Row2: 1sc in next 3sc, 1ch turn Row3: Repeat Row 3 Back Leg
Front Leg
1slst in each next 7 foundation ch,1ch Repeat Rows 1-3 or back Leg. tinue in slst along chain and round head to beginning of row, FASTEN OFF
Back Edging
Join contrast in 3rd sc of head. (3ch, slst in next slst)2 times,3ch, 2dc in next 2 slst,3ch slst in same slst as last dc,\*(3ch, 2dc tog,3ch ,slst into top of last 2dc tog {3ch p made},3ch ,slst in next slst)\* Repeat from \* to \* to commencement of tail. Work( 3ch slst in next st) 7 times,(6ch, slst in 2nd,3rd,4th,5th and 6th ch, slst next foundation ch of tail) 2 times.
You can either fasten off here and finish or complete under body as follows: Hard Option: Draw up a loop, insert hook into 1st sc of tail,taking loop under tail draw through, 1ch slst down tail. Fasten off. If wished you can rejoin between between back and front legs and work slst in contrast color. ( I prefer to carry thread under each leg and work work contrast between back legs because I hate sewing off threads)
Easy Option;
Using contrast Embroider chain st-st along underside of tail and between legs. Embroidereye.
DIRECTIONS FOR STITCHES
slst - slip stitch
Insert the hook from the front, under the two top threads of the stitch next to the hook, yarn over and draw it through the stitch AND the loop on the hook in one movement.
Sc - Single crochet
insert the hook into next stitch,yarn over hook,draw it through the chain, there are now two loops on the hook. Yarn over hook draw through the two loops, one loop will remain on the hook. One single crochet (sc) now completed.
Hdc - Half double crochet
Yarn over hook, insert hook into next stitch,yarn over, and draw loop through stitch. There are now three loops on the hook, yarn over , and draw it through all three loops, one loop will remain on the hook. One half double crochet (1hdc) completed
Dc - Double Crochet
Yarn over hook, insert hook in to next stitch, yarn over,and draw loop through stitch. There are now three loops on the hook, yarn over , and draw it through two loops, two loop will remain on the hook, yarn over hook . Draw through remain 2 loops,one loop left on hook. One double crochet (1dc) completed .
2sc tog
Insert hook into next stitch ,yarn over hook, draw through stitch,2 loops on hook, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over hook,draw through stitch (3 loops on hook) yarn over draw through all loops. 3chp 3ch slst in top of previous stitch(this is slightly different to normal slst in 1s ch)
2dc tog
Yarn over hook, insert hook in to next stitch, yarn over,and draw loop through stitch. There are now three loops on the hook, yarn over , and draw it through two loops.(2 loops remaining) Yarn over hook, insert hook in to next stitch, yarn over,and draw loop through stitch, yarn over , and draw it through two loops,yarn over draw through all loops.
