Intermediate- Experience Finished Size: Using 4 ply/ Fingering cotton and Hook size B1 the STEGOSAURUS should be approx 13 cm / 5 inches long from head to tail and 6cm/2.5 inches high

Back Leg

Back Edging

Join contrast in 3rd sc of head. (3ch, slst in next slst)2 times,3ch, 2dc in next 2 slst,3ch slst in same slst as last dc,\*(3ch, 2dc tog,3ch ,slst into top of last 2dc tog {3ch p made},3ch ,slst in next slst)\* Repeat from \* to \* to commencement of tail. Work( 3ch slst in next st) 7 times,(6ch, slst in 2nd,3rd,4th,5th and 6th ch, slst next foundation ch of tail) 2 times.

You can either fasten off here and finish or complete under body as follows: Hard Option: Draw up a loop, insert hook into 1st sc of tail,taking loop under tail draw through, 1ch slst down tail. Fasten off. If wished you can rejoin between between back and front legs and work slst in contrast color. ( I prefer to carry thread under each leg and work work contrast between back legs because I hate sewing off threads)

Using contrast Embroider chain st-st along underside of tail and between legs. Embroidereye.

DIRECTIONS FOR STITCHES

slst - slip stitch

Insert the hook from the front, under the two top threads of the stitch next to the hook, yarn over and draw it through the stitch AND the loop on the hook in one movement.

Sc - Single crochet

insert the hook into next stitch,yarn over hook,draw it through the chain, there are now two loops on the hook. Yarn over hook draw through the two loops, one loop will remain on the hook. One single crochet (sc) now completed.

Hdc - Half double crochet

Yarn over hook, insert hook into next stitch,yarn over, and draw loop through stitch. There are now three loops on the hook, yarn over , and draw it through all three loops, one loop will remain on the hook. One half double crochet (1hdc) completed

Dc - Double Crochet

Yarn over hook, insert hook in to next stitch, yarn over,and draw loop through stitch. There are now three loops on the hook, yarn over , and draw it through two loops, two loop will remain on the hook, yarn over hook . Draw through remain 2 loops,one loop left on hook. One double crochet (1dc) completed .

2sc tog

Insert hook into next stitch ,yarn over hook, draw through stitch,2 loops on hook, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over hook,draw through stitch (3 loops on hook) yarn over draw through all loops. 3chp 3ch slst in top of previous stitch(this is slightly different to normal slst in 1s ch)

2dc tog

Yarn over hook, insert hook in to next stitch, yarn over,and draw loop through stitch. There are now three loops on the hook, yarn over , and draw it through two loops.(2 loops remaining) Yarn over hook, insert hook in to next stitch, yarn over,and draw loop through stitch, yarn over , and draw it through two loops,yarn over draw through all loops.
