Rumway Bound

Size: 1-2 years, 3-4 years, Adult Finished Brim Circumference: 13 (16, 18)". Materials: Yarn: Approximately 80(100, 130) yards each of two colors of heavy worsted yarn. Child sizes - optional: Approximately 20 yards of lace or sock weight yarn for flower. Needles: Size 7 and 9 Us circular or double-pointed needles (or size needed to obtain gauge). Adult or Child Sizes - optional: Decorative Button or pin. Gauge: 16 stitches and 7 rows $=4^{\prime\prime}$ in stockinette.

Baby/Child Runway Bound
Instructions: Cast on 52 (64) sts using smaller needle and CC. Brim: Place beginning marker and join in rnd, being careful not to twist sts. Using MC, work in K1, P1 rib for .75 (.75) ". Body: Increase as follows: $\ast\mathsf{K}2$ , M1, repeat from $^*$ to EOR. [78(96) sts.] PM every 6 sts and begin next rnd using larger needle and Chart A. (Please note starting point for smallest size is row 5 of the chart.) Perform decreases indicated on the chart using K2tog. At end of chart, 13 (16) sts remain. \*K2tog around, ending in K1 if necessary. Repeat from \* once more. Now 4 (4) sts remain. Cut yarn, leaving a $10^{\prime\prime}$ tail. Thread tail through remaining sts, pulltight and fasten to inside. Weave in ends. Block if needed. Fold crown of hat down to within 1 - 2 inches of the cast on edge. Tack in place; add flower if desired (see instructions at end of pattern).

Adult Runway Bound
Instructions: Cast on 72 sts using smaller needle and CC.
Brim: Place beginning marker and join in rnd, being careful not to twist sts. Using MC, work in K1, P1 rib for $1.25~^{\prime\prime}$ Body: Increase as follows: $\ast\mathsf{K}2$ , M1, repeat from \* to EOR. [108 sts] PM every 6 sts and begin next rnd using larger needle and Chart B. Perform decreases indicated on the chart using K2tog. At end of chart, 18 sts remain. \*K2tog around, ending in K1 if necessary. Repeat from $^*$ once more. Now 5 stitches remain. Cut yarn, leaving a $10^{\prime\prime}$ tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches, pull tight and fasten to inside. Weave in ends. Block if needed. Fold crown of hat down to within 1 - 2 inches of the cast on edge. Tack in place. Add decorative button or pin.
Optional Flower:
Cast on 121 stitches using lace or sock weight yarn and smaller needle. Rw 1: K. Rw 3: K1, \*K2tog (2 times), K1, repeat from \* to end of rw. (73 sts) Rw 4:P. Rws 5 & 6: Repeat Rws 3 (ending with K2tog) & 4. (44 sts) Bind off. Roll bind off edge up while tacking it together to form rose. Tack rose to hat as shown in photo.
