Baldur by Tashyy
This shawl is knitted from the top down, center out and can be made to any size you'd like out of any yarn with any needles of your choice. It uses uses simple lace techniques and is knitted in garter stitch to look the same on both sides - no purling needed!

The original shawl was knitted in a homespun 1o0 % merino yarn (approx 13 wpi) using 6 mm needles and it took about 230 m. It's approx 175 x 40 cm. Since it's highly adaptable in size gauge is not important. Choose a nice yarn you like and then needles that suits your yarn.

Chart B. Repeat the highlighted red box. The number of repeats of the red box is one less than the repeats of row 2-5. If you, for example, have repeated rows 2-5 20 times, then you need to repeat the red box 19 times. With 40 repeats of rows 2-5 you get 39 repeats of the red box and so on.
Bind off
Binding off can be done with or without a crochet needle. The result looks the same so it's just a matter of what you prefer (personally I like the one with a crochet needle). With knitting needles: Repeat \*k1, sl this back to left needle, k2tog tbl, sl back to left needle\* to the end. Break yarn and pull through remaining stitch. With crochet needle: Transfer the first stitch to a crochet needle and repeat \*cs, ss with next st\* to the end. Break yarn and pull end through remaining stitch. Weave in ends and block.
