Wood Collared Chemex Coffeepot Cozy
This fits a 6-8 cup Chemex drip coffee pot with a wood collar (rather than a handle). This is a simple stretchy 2x2 twisted rib. There is a row of decreases at the top before a round of eyelets through which braided yarn or cord can be threaded to secure the cozy below the collar. Beads add a decorative element...you can get real fancy and replace the leather cord and wood bead that comes with the collar with ones that match your cozy. If you have a handle, look to my other Chemex Coffee Cozy pattern. NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

You now have a flat disk that should generally be the size of the bottom of your Chemex. [If you have a larger (or smaller) coffee pot, continue the increase pattern knitting 1 additional knit between theKfbs(or quit increasing early) until you reach the desired circumference. You do need to end with a number of stitches divisible by 4, so tweak the stitch count by adding M1BPs to your purl row or p2tog as needed to get an appropriate stitch count.]
BODY
\*ktbl 2, p2\* across Work even until work measures approximately 4 %"from Purl row-- or % - % inch LESS than the height from the bottom of pot to the bottom of collar. (If using super chunky, this will be about 19 rows total).
NECK EYELETS
Round 1: \*ktbl 2, p2tog\* across (42 st) [48 st] Round 2: \*k2, psso\* (21 st) [24 st] Round 3: \*k1, C0\* across (42 st) [48 st] Round 4: p across Round 5: Bind off loosely DO NOT yet cut off yarn at the end! It is VITALLY important that you make sure your cozy will slip over the wide base of the coffee pot. Loosen the tension of your bind off if needed. If your gauge or type of yarn have given you less stretch, you may even try working the eyelet section with larger needles. Once you are satisfied with your fit, cut yarn, tie off, weave in ends and block it by wetting and letting in dry on your coffee pot.
FINISHING:
Cut 18-24 in of desired tie material (braided yarn in matching or contrasting color, ribbon, leather cord, twine, etc) Weave the tie through the eyelet holes. Tie end to secure, or thread both ends through a large holed bead in opposite directions and tie below that bead (this secures the cozy the same way the wood collar is secured...you can even replace the collar tie material with some to match your cozy.
