How to use the chart: The back of the mitten is the same as the front. 'Mirror' all increases & decreases, they're the same on the palm & the back of the hand. Left-hand & right-hand mittens are the same as well. Directions to Make the Mittens: 1. Cast on 32 stitches 2. Join in round 3. Place markers at beginning & half-way-point of round 4. Knit ribbing (knit/purl alternating) for 1" 5. Work increases as indicated on chart 6. At row 30, add markers for thumb increases 7. Join contrasting colour on row 33 8. Start chart chalice chart 9. At row 54, place thumb stitches on scrap yarn 10. Cast on 3 extra stitches to re-join across thumb-hole-space 11. Continue with chart, starting decreases at row 70 12. Finish fingertips with kitchener stitch 13. Transfer thumb stitches from scrap yarn back to needles 14. Pick up 3 stitches from the 3 cast-on stitches 15. Distribute stitches on 3 DPNs 16. Knit for 2" 17. K2tog all around 18. Tie off end 19. Weave in all ends
