Mod Maude was inspired by a photo of a striped mug I saw on Pinterest, where the stripes were offset in the middle. To avoid working from two balls of yarn at once, and to make it more interesting while knitting garter stitch, one half of the shawl is worked from the top out, then the second piece is joined to the first as you knit. Short rows, using simple wrapping and turning, are incorporated to vary the width of the stripes, creating an optical illusion.
Finished Size
76" / 193 cm wide x 23" / 53.5 cm long
Yarn
Knit Picks Palette (100% Peruvian Highland Wool; 231 yd [211 m]/1.75 oz [50 gm]): 2 balls White (MC); 1 ball each Blush (CC1), Rose Hip (CC2), Sky (CC3), Mist (CC4), Golden Heather (CC5), Alflafa (CC6), Custard (CC7), Black (CC8). For a 2 color shawl, use 2 balls of MC, and 2 balls of CC, and ignore number designations on the CCs throughout pattern.

Notions
10 Stitch markers; tapestry needle; stitch holder or safety pin.
