Ten Stitch Blanket for Loom Knitters
This pattern is worked in continuous rounds. There is no sewing together needed. Alljoining together is done as you go.
This pattern can be made on any gauge loom (with a minimum of 11 pegs) which is appropriate for your yarn. The pattern is written for 10 stitches at a time. This pattern can become a dishcloth, or a King Size Afghan. You can carefully plan out every color of every row, or you can let it all come together as you work it. This is your project and it can be anything you want it to be. I contacted Frankie Brown and requested permission to convert her amazing pattern to a loom knit version. She agreed! Pattern Notes:
K = u-wrap stitches P = Purl SK = skip (do not work this peg) HS = halfstitch: The yarn is brought around the back of the peg to the front of the peg above the existing loop. The wrap stops in front, half-way around the peg, so it is now ready to start the next row. W&T = Wrap and Turn: lift existing loop(s) off of peg, wrap the working yarn around the back of the peg to the front. Place existing loop(s) back on peg on top of the loop you just created. When you come to a peg that has been wrapped and it is time to knit it over, you will knit all 3 stitches over 1. SL =Slip Stitch (inthis patern we wil simply skipthistitch by running yarnbehind the peg. Pick Up and Knit 1= Place both loops of edge stitch on peg 11 and knit over. This is always done between a SL and PssO in this pattern. PSSO= Place loop from picked up stitch on peg 10. Knit existing loop (skipped stitch) over new loop.
Directions:
Chain Cast on 10 pegs (from peg 10 to peg 1 so that your working yarn is between peg 1 and 2) Row 1: SK peg 1, K pegs 2 - 9, HS peg 10 Row 2: P pegs 9 - 2, HS peg 1 Rows 3 - 18: repeat rows 1 and 2 until you have completed 9 garter ridges Now work a double corner (meaning you will work the entire corner section two times) see Row By Row Corner Instructions below. That was the hardest part! From now on, you only work the corner section one time at each turn. Now, work back along the side of the original 9 garter ridges attaching your strip as you go, by following this simple two row pattern: Row 1: SK peg 1, K pegs 2 -9 , SL peg 10, Pick up and Knit 1 stitch (on peg 11)from the side of the knitting (there should be a side stitch there already), PSsO Row 2: P pegs 9 - 2, HS peg 1 When you reach the next corner, work a single corner (corner part 1 and corner part 2 worked one time each) and carry on along the next side. Jow just keep going until you are bored or run out of yarn. Depending on where yr decide to stop, the finished blanket will be a square, a rectangle, or neither of the above with a sticky-out bit on one side. This is nice and easy knitting with an occasional corner to keep you interested so have fun with it. When you are ready, just do a basic bind off and you are all done.
