Materials:
Vanna's Choice Solids and Heathers BlueBell: 3 yards White: 35 yards Sweet Pea: 6 yards Purple: 30 yards Tapestry needle, scissors Hook5.5 mm or US I Round 1) Using Bluebell, Magic Circle 16 dc, and fasten off. (or ch-5, join in circle, ch-3 as dc, then work 15 dc in circle, join sl st to first ch-3 and fasten off Bluebell) Round 2) Join with White into any dc, ch-3 as dc, ch-3 (or just ch-6 and be done with it...), dc into same st, then [ch-3, sk dc, dc into next dc, ch-3, dc into same dc] x 7. Then ch-3, and sl st to first ch-3. [8 groups of (dc, ch-3, dc); 8 ch-3 sp] Round 3) Continue with White, sl into next ch-3 loop, ch-1 and sc into same sp. Work 2 more sc in same ch-3 sp, then [2 sc into next ch-3 loop, 3 sc into ch-3 loop between dc] x 7, work final 2 sc into last ch-3 loop and sl to first sc, fasten off White. (40 sc) Annabelle Iris Square Afghan Block---Page 1 Round 4) Join with Sweet Pea in any middle sc of a 3 sc set. Ch-3 as dc, dc in same st, then ch-2, 2 dc in same st as join, [ch-4, sk 4 st, sc in next, ch-4, sk 4 sc\*\*, in next st work a corner (2 dc, ch-2, 2 dc)] x 3, then work [ to \*\* and sl st final ch to first ch-3. Fasten off Sweet Pea. (4 corners, 8 ch-4 sp, 4 sc) Round 5) Join with Purple to any corner ch-2 sp. Use sc join. [3 sc in corner, sc in next 2 dc, 4 sc in ch-4, sc in sc, 4 sc in ch-4, sc in next 2 dc] x 4. Sl st last sc to first sc. (13 sc per side, 3 sc corners) Alternate to Round 5 is to continue with same colour as Round 4, and only fasten off after Round 5. You will need slightly more Colour Sweet Pea of course (about 4 yards). Round 6) Continue with Purple. ch-3 as first dc, then [(corner—2 dc, ch-2, 2 dc in same st), dc in next 15 sc] x 3, work last side as 'dc in next 14 sc' after corner, and sl st last dc to first ch-3. [15 dc per side, corners are (2 dc, ch-2, 2 dc)] Round 7) ch-1, sc in same st, sc in next 2 dc, [(corner—2 dc, ch-2, 2 dc in same st), sc in next 19 dc] x 3, work last side as 'sc in next 16 dc' after corner, then sl st last sc to first sc, and fasten off Purple. [19 sc per side, corners are (2 dc, ch-2, 2 dc)] Round 8) Join with White to any corner ch-2 with sc join, work 2 more sc into corner, [sc into next 2 st, hdc into next 2 st, dc into next 15 st, hdc into next 2 st, sc into next 2 st\*\*, 3 sc into corner st] x 3, then work from [ to \*\* only, sl st last sc to first sc. (or work off with tapestry needle neatly if block measures sufficiently). (23 st per side, 3 sc in corners) Round 9) Work either a sc or a hdc or dc round, depending on desired size. Corners of sc and hdc will have 3 st, corners of dc will have either 5 st, or (2 dc, ch-2, 2 dc), with 25 st each side. (25 st each side, corners)
