Materials:
ball each KnitPicks Palette Mist, Aurora Heather, Bison, and Green Tea heather four #3 DPNs (or size needed to obtain gauge), stitch marker, and tapestry needl Gauge: 32 stitches and 32 rounds = 4" using #3 needles.
Abbreviations:
K2TOG = Knit two stitches together. SSK = Slip one stitch, then slip the next. Insert left needle into the front loops of the slipped stitches and knit them together from this position .
Instructions:
With circular needle, CO 136 sts using Aurora Heather. Join to work in round, placing stitch marker and being careful not to twist stitches. Knit six rounds corrugated rib (see CHART A) using for knit Bison, Mist, and Green Tea Heather sts and Aurora Heather for purl sts. Increase round: (round 1 of CHART B) Using Aurora Heather, inc to 168 sts (knit 4 sts, then, inc every 4th st evenly to last 4 sts. Knit last 4 sts). Follow CHART B (16 sts per repeat, 10.5 repeats per round) for 13 rounds Follow CHART C (14 st repeat, 12 repeats per round) for 9 rounds. Follow CHART B again for 13 rounds Follow CHART C again for 9 rounds: total 44 rounds Decrease round: (round 1 of CHART D or E): Using Bison, dec evenly every 5th st (144 sts). \*\* cover photo shows hat top CHART D, and I included an alternate top-CHART E. Hat top: Follow CHART D or E to end, beginning round with st just to the right of the center line as opposed to the far right sts. NOTE: To dec. top, K2TOG before decrease support column, and SSK two sts immediately after decrease support column every other row. Knit last six sts for 5 rounds, cut yarn leaving a tail several inches long. Move all sts from needles to tapestry needle, and pull tightly. Secure from the inside. : trim all color change ends at beginning and ends of rounds. Wash and block to 1 KnitPicks palette Colors Used:
