Materials

3mm crochet hook, 4ply cotton yarn The pattern can be made in 2 styles, short ties to tie round the back of the ankle and long ties to wrap around and tie at the front. The figure in brackets refers to the longer chain.

Foot Section (make 2)

With green yarn make a slip knot and ch 73(101), insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, yo, draw loop. through and through existing loop on hook. Slip stitch made, rpt this ss along the whole length of the ch. If you can, work into the bump on the back of the chain, this willgive a more cordlike appearance toyour tie. Next ch 10, place a marker in the 10th ch, chain a further 73(101), and work ss back along this length of ch until you reach the marked stitch, remove marker. Ch 1, work 1tr into each of 10ch (again into the bump on back of ch), ss to back loop of very 1st ch made (should have original yarn tail attached). Ch1, turn, work 1dc into each tr(10sts) Ch1,turn, work dc2tog, 6dc, dc2tog(8sts) Ch3 ( counts as 1st tr), turn, skip dc at base of turning ch, work 1tr into each dc, ie 7tr Ch1, turn, dc2tog, 4dc, dc2tog(6sts) Ch3 (counts as first tr), turn, skip dc at base of turning ch, 5tr Ch1, turn, dc2tog, 2dc, dc2tog(4sts) Ch3 (counts as 1st tr), turn, skip dc at base of turning ch, 3tr Ch1, dc2tog, dc2tog (2sts) ch 14, do not turn, ss to 1st dc made on last r Before fastening off yarn and weaving in ends check that this toe loop is the right length for you. Adjust number of ch up or down as necessary.

Daisy (make 2)

Centre, Round 1 Withyellowyarneither:- a) using magic ring method make 6dc into ring, join with ss, do not turn, or b) ch2, work 6dc into 2nd ch from hook, join with ss, do not turn Round 2 - ch 1, work 2dc into each st, ss to 1st dc, (12sts) fasten off. (Leave long yarn tails for attachment)

Weave in yarn ends of petals and foot piece. Using the yarn ends from the yellow centre attach the daisy to the green base with French knots.

Abbreviations

Ch Chain SS Slip stitch Dc Doublecrochet Tr Treble yo Yarnover Dc2tog Double crochet 2 stitches together (insert hook in next stitch, yo, draw through a loop, 2 loops on hook, insert hook in next st, yo, draw through a loop, 3 loops on hook, yo draw through all 3 loops Oonhook)

Variations

Increase the number of petals for a fuller looking daisy by working into the front and back loops of a dc. Either work into the front loop and then the back loop as you go, (in every stitch or just some depending on the look you want) or work 1 round into the front loop only, followed by 1 round into the back loop only, fasten off. There are a lot of crochet flower patterns available, some of them very realistic, use one of those instead of the daisy. Instead of sewing the flower to the base attach a small safety pin or brooch pin and ring the changes with different flowers. Instead of embroidering French knots in the centre of the daisy, attach beads, sequins or a button, or acombinationofall3!

Yarn

I used DMC Petra No 5 in green and yellow and Lyscordet crochet cotton No 10 in white, but any 4 plyweight cotton yarn will work.
