Cabled Covers
A classic pattern which uses simple cable columns, but has an added twist with the use of icord to cast off and join front and back together. ION: 19 stitches and 25 rows to 10cm2 using stocking stitch & 4.5mm needl FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Kindle Cover: 14cm x 21 cm iPad cover: 20cm x 26cm

Originally knitted in Patons Wool Blend Aran 100g 63% wool 37% Acrylic Length 185m For Kindle: 70g of Aran weight yarn (Patons Wool Blend Aran in Cream, shade 00002, used) For i-Pad: 90g of Aran weight yarn (Patons Wool Blend Aran in Cream, shade 00002, used) 1 pair of 4.5mm kniting needles 1 cableneedle

Cabled Covers:
NOTE: The basic pattern is for a cover for a Kindle, with the pattern for an i-Pad given in [brackets]. where length varies from the basic pattern for a Kindle with keyboard, this is also given in [brackets], otherwise the pattern for the Kindle with or without keyboard is exactly the same.
Back:
Using 4.5mm needles and Aran weight yarn, cast on 34sts (46sts) Row 1: P3; (K4, P2) to the last st; P1 Row 2: K3; (P4, K2) to the last st; K1 Row 3: P3; (C4B, P2) to the last st; P1 Row 4: K3; (P4, K2) to the last st; K1 Repeat these 4 rows 10 (15) times [12 times for a Kindle with keyboard] Cast off in i-cord: Cast on 3sts Row 1: \*K2, K2tog tbl Slip the 3 sts on the right hand needle purlwise (i.e. as if you were going to purl the stitches) back onto the left hand needle Repeat from \* until 3sts remain. Cast off these 3 sts. Front: Work exactly as given for the back until the final 3sts remain after the i-cord cast off has been worked across the top of the cover. Do not cast off these 3 sts Join Front & Back: Place the front and backs together (wrong sides facing inwards). Row 1: On the right side \*K2, Sl1, put the right hand needle through both layers of the sleeve, picking up and knitting a stitch through both layers of fabric, (i.e. putting the needle through the next V st from the front edge and the corresponding % st from the back edge, thus joining the front and back edges together), PssO this made st. Slip the 3 sts on the right hand needle purlwise back onto the left hand needle Repeat from \*, joining front to back along the first side edge, then across the bottom, then up the second side edge Cast off the final 3 sts. To Make up: Sew the cast off end of the i-cord to the cast on end of the i-cord on the front piece. At the back, neatly sew the cast on and cast off edges of the i-cord to the front piece at either side, thus neatening the side edges and leaving the top edge open. Skull and Crossbones Covers:
A fun cover with a skull and crossbones motif. TENSioN: 14 stitches and 19 rows to 10cm2 using stocking stitch & 6.5mm needles. HED MEAsUREMENTS: Kindle Cover: 14cm x 21 cm iPad cover: 20cm x 26Cr
MATERIALS:
Originally knitted in Hayfield Bonus Chunky 100g 100% Acrylic Length 137m However, any chunky weight yarn may be substituted as available.
For Kindle Sleeve:
30g of chunky weight yarn in Colour A (Hayfield Bonus Chunky in black, shade 0965, used) 5g of chunky weight yarn in Colour B (Hayfield Bonus Chunky in white, shade 0961, used)
For i-Pad Sleeve:
55g of chunky weight yarn in Colour A (Hayfield Bonus Chunky in black, shade 0965, used) 5g of chunky weight yarn in Colour B (Hayfield Bonus Chunky in white, shade 0961, used)
For both:
6.5mm knitting needles 6mm knitting needles
Single Rib:
Row 1: Kl; (P1, Kl) to the end of the row Row 2: P1; (K1, P1) to the end of the row Note: before beginning to work the front of the covers, separate the yarns into 4 balls of Colour A (black) and 3 balls of Colour B (white) so that each area of colour can be worked using a different ball of yarn, rather than stranding the yarn across the work. Sleeve for a Kindle:
Back:
Using 6.5mm needles and Colour A, cast on 1 7sts Beginning knit, st st 34 rows Change to 6mm needles. Work 3 rows in single rib as given Cast off in rib.
Front:
Work in exactly the same way as for the back, but following the motif over the 17sts and 34 rows of st st. and working the rib section in Colour A
Sleeve for a Kindle with keyboard:
Back:
Using 6.5mm needles and Colour A, cast on 1 7sts Beginning knit, st st 36 rows Change to 6mm needles. Work 3 rows in single rib as given Cast off in rib.
Front:
Work in exactly the same way as for the back, but following the motif over the 17sts and first 34 rows of st st. and working the final 2 rows of st st and rib section in Colour A
Sleeve for an i-Pad:
Back:
Using 6.5mm needles and Colour A, cast on 27sts Beginning knit, st st 44 rows Change to 6mm needles. Work 3 rows in rib Cast off in rib.
Front:
Work in exactly the same way as for the back, but place the motif as follows on 5th row of st st: Row 5: K5 in Colour A, work 17sts of 1st row of motif, K5 in Colour A Row 6: P5 in Colour A, work 17sts of 2nd row of motif, P5 in Colour A Continue to work in this way, working 5sts in Colour A on either side of the 17 motif sts, until row 34 of the motif has been worked. Work a further 6 rows st st in Colour A Change to 6mm needles. To Make Up (All Sleeves): Neaten all ends at the back of the motif, taking care that all ends have been fastened securely. Join the back to the front along both side seams and the cast on edges, leaving the top, cast on edge open.
