How To Read The Pattern

This pattern is written in American crochet terminology. It is instructed whether to work in the round or in rows as follows: Rnd (work in the round): crochet in a continuous spiral, taking track of where the rounds begin and end by marking the end of a round with a stitch marker (safety pin). Do not join rounds unless otherwisenoted. Row (work in rows): work in rows turning the work at the end. Each row ends with a ch which is not counted in the number of stitches on hook in brackets. Note that if the ch is not needed it is not reported at the end of the row. When counts of Rnd and Row are sequential it means that the piece is worked continuing from one to the other without cutting the yarn. For example “Row1, Row2, Rnd 3, Rnd 4" means to start the piece working in rows and continue to work in the round after Row 2 is done. The "Chain 2" method is used to start crocheting in the round, feel free to replace it with the Magic Ring method (or Adjustable Ring) if you wish. This pattern uses single crochet invisible decrease abbreviated as dec. Find instructions in “Basic Stitches" at the end of this document. If you do not feel comfortable with this method feel free to make the traditional decrease. Find the instructions of crochet stitches used in the pattern including conversion charts in the appendix at the end of the document. Colour Codes In The Pattern · C1 (red) = heart Abbreviations In The Pattern ch = chain sl st = slip stitch sC = single crochet dec = single crochet over two stitches rep = repeat Rnd = work in the round Row = work in rows · In [] = the stitches to repeat for the reported numbers, e.g. “[2sc in next sc, sc 2] three times" means repeat "2sc in next sc, sc 2" three times in a row. · Between \*.\* = stitches to repeat around the round. · In () = stitch count at the end of the round/row
