Photo by Michelle Adkins-Hulse When my friend Michelle became pregnant, I knew I wanted to make her a very special baby blanket. One of the passions Michelle and I share is a love of football. Being a New Englander, I root for the Patriots. Being a Louisiana girl, Michelle cheers on the Saints. I decided to design a blanket that would look classic, knit in a soft off-white wool, featuring the symbol of the New Orleans Saints, the fleur-de-lis. While this could be a blanket for any baby, since the fleurde-lis is a motif in its own right, Michelle and I know better. It's meant to be wrapped around a baby destined to be a New Orleans Saints fan. Finished size Approximately $31^{\prime\prime}$ square Materials Reynolds Soft Sea Wool ( $100\%$ wool, 162 yd per 50 g skein), color 0263 (off white), 7 skeins 1 29-inch US#5/3.75mm needle Stitch markers, tapestry needle (for weaving in ends) Gauge 6.5 sts and 10 rows to 1 inch Notes Gauge is a suggestion; it's more important that your gauge works for the yarn you've chosen and the design. I suggest knitting a swatch of one seed stitch block and one fleur-de-lis block before starting. If your gauge is different from mine, adjust the Layout Chart as necessary to achieve the finished size you desire. Pattern CO208stitches K6, pm, then pm every 28 sts Knit 12 rows garter (knit every row) Row 13 (RS): Keeping first and last 6 sts in garter, begin Layout Chart. When Layout Chart is complete, finish with 12 rows garter. Bind off. Lightly block. $\mathsf{A}\!=$ fleur de lis chart $\mathsf{B}\!=$ moss stitch chart Layout Chart: Fleur-de-lis Chart:
