Ponyta Pattern
Written By: Rebecca Lauber I wanted to make a ponyta for a while and looked for patterns everywhere. I searched for days with no results. Suddenly it occurred to me that I am more than capable of creating my own pattern! So that's what I did. With patience and some yarn, this little cutie has come out with loads of enthusiasm. Ponyta is perfect for anyone who loves Pokemon or even just horses. By this time tomorrow, you and your Ponyta will be ready for the races. Making Fire
So while making Ponyta, I decided I needed a way to make a fire mane. Of course I could have just done yarn and left it with a raggedy look, but that wasn't satisfying. So I came up with an idea. Albeit this idea is a little time consuming and already thought up by someone else, it looks great for a fire. To start, grab your orange yarn and wrap it around two fingers anywhere from 6 to 8 times. Make halves out of that, then do the same for the yellow. Tie the all together in the middle and shove it inside the head or body or leg or wherever you want some fire! Pull up the strands with your hook in a mane-like fashion with two or three strands per. Keep doing this until you are satisfied with how it looks. Once you are done with the entire project, as it is easier to do all at once, take your .5 mm hook and unravel that yarn! I only used just a small hook because it rips up the yarn nicely. Once that is done, once all the yarn is unravelled and it is curly, brush that mane out! Comb it until it is soft and fluffy! Keep going until you are satisfied with how it looks! Then, take the fluff, as you are going to get fluff stuck in your comb, and use it as stuffing or just throw it out. And voila! A cute fire mane!
