Finishing option:
If you prefer not to have as many seams, make 3 continuous columns by continuing on to work the blocks in order going up the columns and switching the color as you begin the next block. Stitch patterns are found in the stitch dictionary, Super Stitches Knitting by Karen Hemingway.

Bamboo Stitch Blocks:
Make 3 Bamboo Stitch blocks, one in each colorway of Sequoia, Cornsilk, Giggle. Using a provisional cast-on and scrap yarn, cast on 20 stitches. Continue on with the selected color. Row 1: knit Row 2: purl Row 3: k1, \*yo, k2, pass the yo over both of the k2 stitches, repeat from the \* to the last stitch, k1 Row 4: purl Repeat rows 3 and 4 until the square measures 10 inches from the cast on edge. Place the 20 stitches on a piece of scrap yarn. Do not cut the working yarn.
Diagonal Rib Blocks:
Make 3 Diagonal Rib Stitch Blocks, one in each colorway of Cedar, Hedge and Wave. Using a provisional cast-on and scrap yarn, cast on 20 stitches. Continue on with the selected color. Pebble Stitch Blocks:
Make 3 Pebble Stitch Blocks, one in each colorway of Carbon, Flannel and Sandbox. Using a provisional cast-on and scrap yarn, cast on 20 stitches. Continue on with selected color. Row 1: knit Row 2: purl Row 3: k1, (repeat k2tog to the last stitch), k1 Row 4: kl, (repeat (m1, kl) to the last stitch, k1 Repeat rows 1-4 until the square measures 1O inches from the cast-on edge. Place the stitches on scrap yarn. Do not cut the working yarn.
Finishing:
Note: You could block the squares at this point if necessary. I waited until the blanket was completed and then washed and blocked the entire thing. Line up the blocks, using the schematic below as a guide, with all of the provisional cast-on ends at the bottom edge of each row. Begin by attaching the squares to create 3 separate columns. Remove the provisional cast-on scrap yarn and place the live stitches on the spare knitting needle. Remove the scrap yarn from the live stitches at the top of the block. VVith the right sides facing each other use a 3-needle bind off to attach the blocks. Cut the yarn and pull through the remaining stitch. Note: There is a video tutorial available on the sidebar of Spud says! for the 3-needle bind off. Repeat this until all of the blocks are attached to create three columns. Next, with a length of yarn and the yarn needle use the matress stitch to seam the columns together. Use yarn that matches either of the squares being attached. Weave in the ends and trim the yarn.
Border:
Side 1:
Starting at the top right corner, place the 60 held stitches (20 stitches from each of the 3 blocks) on the US size 15 circular needle. Using Hedge work the border as follows: Bind off using the Russian bind-off as follows: Knit one stitch. Place the stitch back on the left needle. Knit 2 stitches together through the back loops. Place the stitch back on the left needle and repeat. Repeat to the end of the row, leave the last stitch on the needle and turn the blanket to work on the next side.
Side 2:
Pick up 2 stitches on the border, one in each garter ridge. Continue to pick up 2 stitches and skipping the next stitch, all the way down the side of the blanket. Knit three more rows. Bind off using the Russian bind-off. Leave the last stitch on the needle.
Side 3:
Pull out the provisional cast on scrap yarn. Place the 6O live stitches (20 from each block) on the other end of the circular needle. Pick up 2 stitches on the border and knit across the row. Knit 3 more rows. Bind off using the Russian bind-off. Leave the last stitch on the needle.
Side 4:
Pick up 2 stitches on the border. Continue to pick up 2 stitches and skipping the next stitch to the end of the side. Pick up 2 stitches, one in each garter ridge and one more stitch on the corner of the border. Knit 3 more rows. Bind off using the Russian bind-off. Cut the yarn and pull the end through the last stitch. Weave in the end and trim. Weave in any remaining ends to the wrong side and trim.
