When directed to slip stitches, slip them purlwise with yarn in back. Carry color in use loosely behind slipped stitches to allow for stretch and avoid puckering. When changing colors, pick up new color from under old color to avoid holes. Join colors as instructed and carry unused strands up loosely inside of work until needed again. Do not cut colors until directed to do so. When working top decreases, switch to double-pointed needles (dpns) when stitches no longer fit comfortably on circular needle.
