Pick up and knit 3 stitches for every 4 rows up along the edge of the neck opening up until where you picked up the stitches for the hood, then pick up 2 stitches for every 3 rows up the side of the hood. When you get to the live stitches on the other needle, knit across and then continue down the other side picking up 2 stitches for every 3 rows to the bottom of the hood, then from the start of the garter collar, 3 stitches for every 4 rows down to the right corner of the neck opening.

Rows 1-3 - knit.

(Make sure that the top buttonhole is below the bottom of the garter neckline.) You may have to adjust these numbers based on the size you are knitting and how many stitches you have picked up. I recommend no more than one button for size 3m - 9m. Rows 5-7 - Knit. Cast off. Overlap the edging, making sure that the buttonhole side is on top, and sew both sides to the stitches you cast on at the bottom of the neck opening.
