GAUGE＆SIZING 20 sts = 4"; 28 rows = 4" stockinette. Sample is knit using Plymouth Royal Bamboo, an excellent silky soft option for chemotherapy patients. For a winter hat, any light worsted weight yarn can be used. This hat is sized for a toddler, child, or for an adult. THE PATTERN TOP Cast On 6 stitches. You may divide these stitches over 3 double pointed needles or use the magic loop method for knitting in the round. Knit all stitches for 2 rows. Increase 1, K1 around (12 st.) Knit 2 rows. Inc. 1, K1 around (24 st.) Knit 2 rows. \*Inc. 1, K2\* repeat around (36 st.) Knit 2 rows. \*Inc. 1, K3\* repeat around (48 st.) Knit 2 rows.

EMBELLISHMENTS
The hat pictured was embellished with figures imitating the positions of the Beatles on their "Help" Album. You can choose any embellishment you choose. Add ear flaps. Attack long thin garter-stitch flaps to the sides to be ear flaps that wrap around your necck like a scarf. Make the Professor's Hat your hat.
ABOUT THEPROFESSOR
The Professor is a three and a half year old boy. He's my daughter's oldest friend, which is a funny concept when you're talking about three and a half year olds. The Professor is a funny kid, he loves nursery rhymes and fairy tales. He loves to dance and sing and from infancy has always been very sure of himself and what he likes in life. He's got a brain tumor. All of the money raised from the sale of this pattern goes to him and his family to support his recovery and to allow them whatever comforts they need.
