Ingredients:

YARN: Used in photos: Naturally Caron Country Ocean Spray & Peacock (blue Stomach Cancer hat) and Rose Bisque & Claret (pink Breast Cancer hat) - but you can use any 2 colors of worsted weight yarn. \*\*See color section for combinations for specific types of cancer NEEDLES: Size #7 (4.5mm) 16 in. circular, size #9 (5.5mm) 16 in. circular, size #9 (5.5mm) double-pointed needles SIZE: Adult one-size KEY: C1 - color one (the main color of the hat & letters) & the designated color for type of cancer C1a - color one a (the secondary color for lettering) & one of the designated colors for the type of cancer C1b - color one b (the tertiary color for lettering) & one of the designated colors for th type of cancer C2 - color two (the contrasting color for the band around the letters) k2tog - knit 2 together: knit the next two stitches together

Recipe:

Cast on 84 sts in C1 on #7 circulars Rows 1-10: work 2x2 rib [(k2, p2) repeat to end, every row] Switchto #9circulars Row 1 1: knit all Switch to C2 \*\*\*Color knitting time! Rows 25-27: knit all in C2 Switch to C1 (you are now done with C2 and can detach - leave a long enough tail for weaving in) Rows 28-41: knit all Row 42: (k10, k2tog) repeat to end [77 sts] Row 43: knit all Row 44: (k9, k2tog) repeat to end [70 sts] Row 45: knit all Row 46: (k8, k2tog) repeat to end [63 sts] Row 47: knit all Row 48: (k7, k2tog) repeat to end [56 sts] Row 49: knit all \*\*Switch to double pointed needles when it becomes too diffcult on circular Row 50: (k2tog) repeat to end [28 sts] Row 51: (k2tog) repeat to end [14 sts] Row 52: (k2tog) repeat to end [7 sts] Cut long tail, thread through remaining sts, pull to close, tie off.

The C1 listed is the color designated for that particular cancer, and the C2 is a contrasting color (feel free to change the C2 if you'd prefer a different combination). Some cancers have more than one color - use the chart sections for TwO COLORS and THREE COLORS. Use the first color listed for the main color of the hat.
