Blithe Shawlette
Materials
Yarn: Natural Dye Studio Precious DK (100% silk, 250m/100g) in Lundy - 2 skeins (used under 150g) Needles 4.5mm circular, 120cm Useful: Stitch markers, Dental floss or smooth yarn for life lines (optional), Crochet hook for cast off. The size is not critical, but small enough to fit through the stitches easily. 4-5mm is recommended. Tension 16sts x 28 rows = 10cm measured over stocking stitch Blocked size: approx. 140cm across by 60 deep er pattern to the Jubilant shawl, which was first published in Knit Now Magazine. Blithe is a simple I a slightly different border. The body pattern is both charted & written. The pattern repeats are added every 12 rows, with 10 stitches of stocking stitch between lace lines. Work until you have 7 eyelet lines in the body, and where you would start the 8th & 9th eyelet lines, start the border chart instead. The borders are charted only. The pattern repeats are obvious, but if you are not confident about 'reading' your knitting, use stitch markers & life lines as often as you need. Stitch markers can be used to mark the decrease point for the eyelet lines and/or the centre stitch. Life lines are used to hold a row of stitches so that if you need to rip your work back to correct a mistake, you won't drop any stitches beyond the point of the lifeline. Smooth yarn or dental floss can be threaded through your work either with a needle or (if you are using interchangeable needles) thread through the tightening hole and the life line will thread itself through as you knit.
