Chevron Lace Chemo Cap

This pattern is based on the Chevron Lace Scarf pattern by Elaine Phillips Size: Adult, medium
Materials:
Approximately 2oz soft worsted weight yarn. (Remember that chemo caps go on bald heads, so something soft is more important than it might otherwise be when making a hat. For the cap in the picture, I incorporated a strand of “fun fur' yarn into the ribbing. Size 7 DPNs, 16" circular needle, or 47”’ circular needle (for magic loop) Yarn needle or crochet hook for binding off
Abbreviations:
yo = yarn over k2tog = knit 2 together
Cast on and Ribbing:
Cast on 90 sts using the technique of your choice. I like the German twisted cast-on because it's stretchy. Join to knit in the round and place a marker. Work in k2,1P1 ribbing (or the ribbing of your choice) for 6 rows.
Body:
I find that placing a marker at the end of each pattern repeat makes it easier to find your mistake if your pattern gets out of whack. Row 1: yo, k2, k2tog, k2; rep around Row 2: knit Row 3: k2, k2tog, k2, yo; rep around Row 4: knit Continue repeating rows 1-4 for a total of 60 rows, or until cap is desired depth.
Crown:
Row 1: k2, k2tog, k2; rep around Row 2: knit Row 3: k2, k2tog, k1; rep around Row 4: knit Row 5: k2, k2tog; rep around Row 6: knit Row 7: k1, k2tog; rep around Row 8: knit Row 9: k2tog; rep around (15 sts remaining) Row 10: knit Row 11: k1, k2tog; rep around (10 sts remaining) Row 12: knit Cut the yarn, leaving a tail several inches long. With a yarn needle or crochet hook, weave the end through the remaining loops, secure and weave in the end.
