Entrelac Clutch by Meg White

Entrelac is a great technique to show off variegated yarns with long colorways. The felted fabric does not require a lining, making this a fast and easy knitting project. Notes: The entrelac is begun at the top of one side of the bag in squares with a provisional cast on. It's worked as a rectangle with two notches out of the middle (bottom of the bag), and up the other side where the etrelac is finished in the contrast color all the way around. A few rounds in stockinette, bind off and cast on for the handle, and a few more rounds of garter finish it off. Row 2
Make 4 Center Squares in the same manner as in Row 1. The stitch left on your needle at the end of row one counts towards the 10 you need to pick up for the next square.
Repeat Row 1 and Row 2.
Having completed the second Row 2, turn and bind off 9 stitches. This will create a notch to shape the bottom of the bag. With 1 stitch left on your right needle, pick up 9 more stitches along the edge of the next square for a total of 10 stitches on the right needle. Work a Center Square and then 2 more Center Squares over the following sets of stitches. To begin the next row, cast on 10 stitches as the base of a Center Square. Then work 2 Center Squares. For the last square of the row pick up 10 stitches on the next edge, and knit 20 rows of garter stitch. Remember to always slip the first stitch. Work the next row as Row 1I, then a Row 2, another Row 1, and end on another Row 2.

Break yarn and whipstitch side seams, starting at the notch at the bottom of the bag to make sure the sides line up correctly.
