Final size
Stuffing Anchor stranded cotton in 23 for the nose and in white for the whiskers (or equivalent) Keychain 7cm (2,76 inches) to 8cm (3,15 inches) tall
About:
These were originally made as a keychain for my mother who loves cats. She was looking for one, but didn't find one that she liked and so I decided to make her one =) The terminology used in this pattern is the US terminology. Gauge is not important to this project just as long as your hook, yarn and individual tension result in a stitch that is tight enough that the stuffing won't come through. This project is worked in continuous rounds. Don't join rounds at the end. You may want to use a marker to indicate the beginning of the round. All stitches are worked in both loops. Assembly
- Sew nose and whiskers (tutorial below) - Attach ears to head - Attach legs to body - Attach tail to body - Optional: Attach keychain's chain to the top of the head (tutorial below) 1. Insert needle into the head of the kitty, pull gently until the tail is hidden. Catch a stitch that you know is going to be under the nose and pull. 2. Catch the same stitch once more and pull thread until you have a loop. Insert needle into the loop and pull. The thread is now secure. 3. Insert needle into the top right corner of the nose and make it come out on the bottom corner. 4. Repeat step 3 inserting the needle always a little bit to the left and always making it come out on the bottom corner until you have the desired shape. 5. Secure and weave in ends. Kitty's nose is complete.
Whiskers
1. Insert the needle where you want the whiskers to end and make it come out where you want the whiskers to start. 2. Pull thread gently until you have two tails of more or less the same size. Remove needle. 3. Tie a double knot with the tails of the thread. 4. Thread needle with one tail and insert it in kitty's head and pull. Repeat for second tail. 5. One whisker is complete, but kitty needs more! 6. Repeat steps 1 to 4 for remaining whiskers. Whiskers completed.
Keychain
1. Thread the tail left from the head into the tapestry needle. Insert the needle into the bottom of the head making it come out on the top and middle of thehead. 2. Insert needle into the last ring of the chain and pull. 3. Insert needle into the top and middle of the head making it come out the bottom of the head, between the legs. 4. The chain is now secure. If you want to, repeat steps 1 to 3. 5. Secure end between the legs and weave in. 6.Keychain secured. Now you can use kitty as a keychain, as an embellishment for your beach bag, bag or backpack, or however you want!
