Pattern
Granny Square Motif (Make 16, 20) also see chart below for motif if you prefer. R1 - 3ch, (counts as 1htr and motif centre) 1htr into 1"t ch (motif centre) 2times, \*2ch, 3htr into motif centre; repeat from \* twice more, 2ch, ss into top of beginning 3ch, joining in (YB) Coral on final part of the st. R2 - 3ch, (counts as 1htr, 1ch), skip next 2sts,\*3htr, 2ch, 3htr, 1ch into 2ch sp, skip next 3sts; repeat from\*2more times, 3htr, 2ch, 2htr into last 2ch sp, s into 2nd ch of beginning 3ch, fasten off. R3 - \*1dc into 1ch sp, 1dc into each of the next 3sts, 1dc, 1ch, 1dc into 2ch sp, 1dc into each of the next 3sts; repeat from\* to the end, ss into beginning st to join, fasten off. Dc two sets of 4, 5 together using (YB) Coral to form a row, this will be for the wrist part of the glove.
Left Hand
Foundation Row - With (YB) Coral, take one completed tube piece (you are working from the top of the hand down to the wrist), join yarn into the corner of one motif, by working 1ch, (doesn't count as a st). Work 1dc 43, 50 times evenly along edge of the tube, ss into beginning st to join. Round 1 - 1ch (doesn't count as a st), 1dc into each st to end, s into beginning st to join. Round 2 -1ch (doesn't count as a st), 1dc into each st until last 5 sts, work 7ch, skip next 5sts, ss into beginning st to join. Round 3 - 1ch (doesn't count as a st) 1dc into each st until you reach 7ch, work 1dc into each chain, ss into beginning st to join. (45, 52) Round 4 to 6 - 1ch (doesn't count as a st), 1dc into each st to end, ss into beginning st to join. Round 7 - 1ch (doesn't count as a st) 1dc into each st, until last 5sts, dc2tog, 1dc into each st to the end, ss into beginning st to join. Right Hand
Follow instructions for Left Hand glove Foundation Row and Round 1. Round 2 -1ch (doesn't count as a st), 1dc, work 7ch, skip next 5sts, 1dc into each st to end, ss into beginning st to join. (43, 50) Round 3 - 1ch (doesn't count as a st) 1dc, work 1dc into each ch of 7ch, 1dc into each st to end, ss into beginning st to join. (45, 52) Round 4 to 11 - Repeat instructions as Left Hand glove. Round 12 to 14- 1ch (doesn't count as a st), 1dc, dc2tog, 1dc into next 2sts, dc2tog, 1dc into each st to end, ss into beginning st to join. (37, 4) Round 15 to 18- 1ch (doesn't count as a st), 1dc into the next 8sts, dc2tog, 1dc into each st to end, ss into beginnin st to join. (33, 40) Round 19 to 24 - Repeat as Left Hand glove, fasten off on last row.
Joining Wrist Piece
(For both gloves) Sew in yarn ends. Take the glove wrist row and overlap by one motif at the end to form a fastening flap. Using (YB) Coral, line up wrist row so that fastening flap edge sits centrally on top part of wrist palm side down. Working with (Rs) of motif row and glove together, 1dc round to attach motif row to wrist of glove. When you reach beginning of fastening flap start working into the edge of the motif, (the motif row should now be secured).Work 1dc evenly around the edge of the motif,with 3dc into each corner.Continue working 1dc evenly along the bottom edge of the motifs and around the edge of the final motif, s into beginning st to join, fasten off.
Thumbs (Make 2)
Foundation Row - Using YB, join in yarn at side edge where 7ch, 5sp, sequence began. 1ch, (doesn't count as a st) 1, 2 dc into same space, work 1dc into 7sts round, 1, 2 dc into other side edge, 1dc into next 5sts, ss to join. (14, 16) Round 1 to 5 - 1ch, (doesn't count as a st) 1dc into each st to the end, ss into beginning st to join, fasten off. Sew in yarn ends. Lightly steam block. Add buttons, using image as a guide.
