Batman Lovey
You will need: H hook F hook Black yarn Yellow yarn Blue (or any eye color) yarn Buff (or any skin color) yarn Yarn needle Fiberfill Stitches used: Chain (ch) Double Crochet (dc) Single Crochet (sc) Slip Stitch (sl st) Shell Stitch (3dc, ch2, 3dc allin same stitch) rease (inc) (this is two stitches in one stitch from the previous rov Decrease (dec) (for this stitch, you will go through the previous row, yarn over but DO NOT pull through, instead you will go through the next stitch, yarn over and then pull through all the loops on your hook. This allows your circle to close.)
Blanket:
The blanket is a basic granny square. Throughout this entire blanket portion, the first ch 3 in each row counts as 1 dc. Using H hook and starting with Black: Row One: ch 4, sl st to join Row Two: ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, sc in top of first ch3 t0 join (you should have a total of 4 sets of 3dc) Row Three: ch 3, in same space as ch3 do 2 dc (this will form the first half of your shell stitch that will complete that corner at the end of this row), ch 1, in the ch space from the previous row do 3dc, ch 1, in the corner space from the previous row 3dc chain 2 3dc (shell stitch), ch 1, 3 dc in previous row chain space, ch 1.. follow this pattern around until you have finished your row. (you will have one set of 3 dc between each corner shell stitch), when you reach the end, join with a sc but do not pull through the black, add in your yellow and finish your sc. \*\*\*Every three rows, alternate colors between black and yellow when completing your sc to join. You will follow the pattern of row three, and with each row you will have one more set of 3dc between your corner shell stitches (for example: in row 4 you will have one set of 3dc between corner shell stitches, row five you will have two sets of 3dc between corners, row six you will have three sets of 3dc between corners, etc)\*\*\* Row 4-6: you will use yellow Row 7-9: you will use black Row 10-12: you will use yellow Finish off your final row, securing your final stitch, and leaving a tail to weave in. Weave in all of your tails with your yarn needle.
Batman:
Head: (you will not join your rounds) Using H hook and buff (or whatever skin tone yarn you have chosen): Round One: ch 2, in second ch from hook do 6 sc (6 stitches) Round Two: 2 sc (inc) in each stitch around (12 stitches) Round Three: sc in next stitch, 2sc (inc) in next stitch... follow pattern around (18 stitches) Round Four: sc in next 2 stitches, 2sc (inc) in next stitch... Follow pattern around (24 stitches) Round Five: sc in next 3 stitches, 2sc (inc) in next stitch.... Follow pattern around (30 stitches) Round Six: sc in next 4 stitches, 2sc (inc) in next stitch... follow pattern around (36 stitches) Round Seven: sc in next 5 stitches, 2sc (inc) in next stitch... The more you stuff it, the firmer the head will be, allowing it to hold its shape better. If you want batman to have a mouth, you should back stitch it on with black yarn BEFORE you finish stuffing the head. I just did a straight line because batman doesn't smile @\*\*\* Round Nineteen: dec in each stitch around (8 stitches) (there is an extra dec stitch in this round. This helps to tighten the hole in the bottom of the head up) Finish off your final stitch securely, leaving a long tail to sew the head onto the blanket when complete.
Mask: (you will not join your rows)
Using H hook and black: Round One: ch 2, in second ch from hook do 6 sc (6 stitches) Round Two: 2 sc (inc) in each stitch around (12 stitches) Round Three: sc in next stitch, 2sc (inc) in next stitch... follow pattern around (18 stitches) Round Four: sc in next 2 stitches, 2sc (inc) in next stitch... Follow pattern around (24 stitches) Round Five: sc in next 3 stitches, 2sc (inc) in next stitch... follow pattern around (30 stitches) Round Six: sc in next 4 stitches, 2sc (inc) in next stitch... follow pattern around (36 stitches) Round Seven: sc in next 5 stitches, 2sc (inc) in next stitch.... Follow pattern around (42 stitches) Round Eight: sc in each stitch around (42 stitches) Round Nine: sc in each stitch around (42 stitches) Round Ten: sc in each stitch around (42 stitches) Round Eleven: sc in next 10 stitches, ch 8, skip 7 stitches, sl st in 8th stitch, sc in next 3 stitches, ch 8, skip 7 stitches, sl st in 8th stitch, sc in next 14 stitches (42 stitches including skipped stitches) Round Twelve: sc in each stitch around (42 stitches) Round Thirteen: sc in each stitch around (42 stitches) Round Fourteen: sc in first 10 stitches, turn Row Fifteen: sc in each stitch until reaching eye chains (25 stitches), turn low Sixteen: sc in each stitch until reaching eye chains (25 stitche: Row Seventeen: sl st in the first 10 stitches, then sc in next 14 stitches (this helps even out the sides and back of the mask) If you would like, you can slip stitch around the mask... I did not do this. Finish off your final stitch securely, leaving a long enough tail to sew onto your head. Sew your eyes onto your head first, after you fit the mask on to make sure you have proper eye placement. I did not sew down the top part of the eye holes, but you can secure it however you wish. Ears (you will not join these rounds): Using Black AND F hook (make 2): Round One: ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook Round Two: sc in next stitch, 2sc (inc) in next stitch... follow pattern around (9 stitches) Round Three: sc in each stitch around (9 stitches) Round Four: sc in each stitch around and join to first stitch with sl st (9 stitches) Finish off your final stitch securely, leaving a long enough tail to sew onto mask. 1 sewed the ears on the fifth row of the mask, and set them back a little bit. You can place them wherever you feel they look best. Be sure to sew these onto the hat so that they are flat, you don't want these opened up when you sew them on.
Eyes (make two):
Using Blue AND F hook (or whichever eye color you have chosen): Round One: ch 2, 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st to join Finish off your final stitch securely, and leave a tail to sew onto the head. It is easier to sew the eyes onto the head before you sew the mask down, but fit your mask over your head so you can find the proper eye placement. I put them a little closer to the inside of the mask towards where a nose would be, but you can place them wherever you feel they look best. Batman Symbol: This is NOT my creation.
