Directions:
1) Cast on 88 stitches using the $16^{\prime\prime}$ size 7 circular needle with camel heather. Work 4 rows in 1x1 rib (knit 1, purl1, repeat to end.) 2) Increase one stitch at the beginning and end of the next row by knitting into the front and back of the first stitch. Knit this row in stockinette (knit all stitches.) You should have 90 stitches (the extra 2 stitches are your seam allowance for finishing.) This counts as row 1 of the Muk Muk chart. 3) On the next row begin working back and forth. This should be a wrong-side row, you will be purling back to the beginning. Purl 30 stitches, work Muk Muk chart row 2, purl 30 stitches. 4) Turn work, knit 30 stitches, work Muk Muk chart row 3, knit 30 stitches. 5) Continue in this manner working back and forth until you have completed the Muk Muk chart. For row 17, decrease one stitch at the beginning and end of the row (you should be back to 88 stitches.)At the end of row 17 (should be a knit row) begin knitting in the round again. Knit 4 rows. 6) At the end of row, break yarn. Change to calypso heather. Knit 1 row, purl 5 rows. 7) At the end of the row, break yarn. Change to pumpkin. Knit 9 stitches, knit 2 together, repeat to end of row. You should now have 80 stitches. Knit 3 rows. 8) Decrease round: Knit 18; slip 2 stitches as if to knit, knit 1 stich, pass slipped stitches over (decrease 2); knit 38; slip 2 stitches as if to knit, knit 1 stich, pass slipped stitches over (decrease 2); knit 18. 9) Knit 1 round (should have 74 sts) 10) Decrease round: Knit to one stitch before first decrease; slip 2 stitches as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass slipped stitches over; knit to one stitch before second decrease; slip 2 stitches as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass slipped stitches over ; knit to end of round. 11) Knit 1 round. 12) Repeat steps 10-11 two more times (should have 62 sts). Change to double-pointed needles when the stitches no longer stretch around the circular needle. 13) Repeat the decrease round only (just step 10) until there are 20 stitches remaining. 14) Use your preferred method to join together the top: 3 needle bind-off, Kitchener stitch, or regular bind off $^+$ sewing it together all work fine. 15) Sew up the seam at the back of the hat using the method you prefer. I used mattress stitch. 16) Embroider on a mouth. Make a pom-pom out of the calypso heather yarn and sew to the top of the hat. 17) Weave in all loose ends. 18) Enjoy your new hat! $\circledcirc$
