American Girl Ballet Shrug


Purchase of this pattern allows you to make these for gifts or for sale offline. It does not allow you to sell the pattern or to sell the finished shrugs online.
Supplies:
Sport or DK weight acrylic yarn F or G hook or size to obtain gauge Stitch marker Gauge:3 inches $=11$ sc tall and 16 sc wide The width is the most important part of your gauge with this pattern. If you cannot get the exact height I will give instructions based upon how large each section should be that you can work with to complete this pattern.
Stitches used:
sc: single crochet scd: single crochet decrease sl st: slip stitch reverse sc: reverse single crochet (aka crab stitch) Note: You may want to make an extra long end at the beginning to use to make the reverse single crochet edging later if you want to avoid extra ends to weave in.
Instructions: Do not turn unless directed to do so.
First arm: Arm should be 4 inches long at end of Round 14. If your arm portion is too short or long, add or subtract rows before Round 14, making a note of how many so you can do the same on the second arm. Ch l9. Carefully sl st to first ch to form circle. Round 1: Sc in each ch around. (19 sc) Round 2-13: Sc in each sc around. (19 sc) Round 14: 2 sc in first sc. Sc around. (20 sc) Back of shrug: Back should be just over 7 inches long, ending with an odd row or right side. You can add or subtract rows to make your gauge work; just be sure to end with an odd row/right side row. Row 1: Sc in each sc around. Ch 1, turn. (20 sc) Row 2: Sc in each sc. Ch 1, turn. (20 sc) Row 3-30: Sc in each sc. Ch 1,turn. (20 sc) Row 3l: Sc in each sc. Do not ch 1 or turn. (20 sc) Second arm: Remember to make this arm match the first arm in length, adding or subtracting the same number of rows from the first arm if needed to make your gauge work out to 4 inches for the arm before adding the reverse single crochet round. Round 1: Sc in each sc around, joining the two ends to start forming the second sleeve. (20 sc) Round 2: Sc in each sc around. (20 sc) Round 3: Scd. Sc around. (19 sts) Round 4-15: Sc in each sc around. (19 sts)
Sleeve ends:
Reverse sc around edge of each sleeve for one round, joining and finishing off. (19 rsc) Sl st around opening of shrug to make a neat edge.
