SUPPLIES
Yarn: 1hank Merino 200 Needles: 16" circular and double pointed needles to get gauge.
GAUGE
4 sts = 1" in Stockinette. Suggested needle size: US 8 (5mm). How to check your gauge: With size US 8 (5 mm), needles, CO 14 sts. Work in stockinette stitch untilyouhave a square; measure how many sts fit across 2" then divide by 2 - this is your stitches per inch. If you have more than 4 sts per inch, your knitting is too tight-unravel and try another swatch on a bigger needle. If you have fewer than 4 sts per inch, your knitting is too loose; try again with a smallerneedle. If you want to be daring, you can cast on and skip checking your gauge but the hat may not be the exact size intended (but it will probably fit someone).
