The Convertible Hat/Neckwarmer
The Convertible is a fast, fun project knit in the round. The brim was knit to a gauge of 9 stitches per inch with super bulky (6) yarn on size 13 circular needles. The body of the hat was knit in worsted weight/medium weight (4) yarn on size 9 circular needles. Super bulky weight yarn works great for the brim but you can also combine severalyarns of different weights and colorsfor a fun effect like I did with the Child's Convertible pictured on www.JoJoknits.com.

The brim is knit in garter stitch and in the round so you will knit one round then purl one round. The body is knit in Stocking stitch (and also in the round) so you will knit all rounds.
Brim:
CO 40 (32) sts with super bulky yarn, place marker and join for working in the round. Continue in garter stitch (knit a round, purl a round) for 3 (2.5) inches.
Body:
Change to smaller needles and medium weight yarn. Knit into the front and back of the first stitch, then make one stitch by putting a backwards loop of yarn on the right hand needle. Continue increases across the row 120 (96) sts. Continue knitting rounds until work measures 8 12 (7 12) inches from the bottom of the brim cast on row. Eyelet Row: \*yo (yarn over), k2tog\* repeat across row. Next round knit all the yarn overs as you would any other stitch. Knit one more round, purl one round and bind off all stitches.
