Supplies:
1 Skein Yarn Bee Gilt Eyelash in Tinsel Sky; 3 oz/125 yds; 65% polyester/35% lurex glitter or other Blue eyelash or faux fur yarn Small amounts of Black, White, Light Brown and Dark Brown Worsted Weight Yarn Size 10 Knitting Needles Size G Crochet Hook YarnNeedle Small amount of fiberfill Gauge: 4 sts per inch in stocking stitch Sizes: Small (S) fits a small child Medium (M) fits a preteen/teen/adult Large (L) fits a larger adult Abbreviations: CO - cast on K- knit P- Purl K2tog - knit 2 together Sts - stitches SC - single crochet SCdec - single crochet decrease Ch - chain An instructional video on how to do the Magic Ring method of making a circle in crochet can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHYVutk2iYY I use this technique in almost all of my crochet patterns, and it's a very good one to learn. Work in ends as you go. Hat: With the Blue, CA 64 (72, 80) sts. Do not join. Knit five rows in a K2, P2 rib. Knit even rows and purl odd rows until the piece measures 5" (5 1/2", 6"). For the L hat, start decreasing with Crown Round 1. For the M hat, start decreasing with Crown Round 3. For the S hat, start decreasing with Crown Round 5. Crown Round 1: K2tog, K8 around. 72 sts. Crown Round 2: Purl. Crown Round 3: K2tog, K7 around. 64 sts. Crown Round 4: Purl. Crown Round 5: K2tog, K6 around. 56 sts. Crown Round 6: Purl. Crown Round 7: K2tog, K5 around. 48 sts. Crown Round 8: Purl. Crown Round 9: K2tog, K4 around. 40 sts. Crown Round 10: Purl. Crown Round 11: K2tog, K3 around. 32 sts. Crown Round 12: Purl. Crown Round 13: K2tog, K2 around. 24 sts. Crown Round 14: Purl. Crown Round 15: K2tog, K1 around. 16 sts. Crown Round 16: Purl. Crown Round 17: K2tog around. 8 sts. Break yarn. Draw yarn through remaining stitches, pull tight and fasten off. Stitch seam and scrape the tip of the needle over the seam to loosen the eyelashes.
Eyes:
Make 2. With the White, make a Magic Ring with 6 SC. DO NOT join with a slip stitch or chain 1 after any of the rounds. Round 1: 2 SC in each stitch around. 12 sts. Round 2: 2 SC in the next stitch, SC1 around. 18 sts. Round 3: SC 2, 2 SC in the next stitch around. 24 sts. Round 4: 2 SC in the next stitch, SC3 around. 30 sts. Round 5: SC4, 2 SC in the next stitch around. 36 sts. Rounds 6-10: SC. Round 11: SCdec, SC4 around. 30 sts. Round 12: SC3, SCdec around. 24 sts. Round 13: SCdec, SC2 around. 18 sts. Round 14: SC1, SCdec around. 12 sts. Stuff firmly. Round 15: SCdec around. 6 sts. Break yarn and fasten off. With the Black, make a Magic Ring with 6 SC. Join with a slip stitch, break yarn and fasten off. Make 2. Stitch to the Eyes. Stitch eyes to the top of the Hat. Mouth: With the Black, ch 21. Row 1: SC 1 in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. 20 sts. Rows 2-4: Ch1 ,SC. Fasten off. Stitch mouth to the Hat.
Cookie:
With the Light Brown, Magic Ring 5 sc. DO NOT join. Turn and work in Rows. Row 1: Ch 1, SC 1, 2 SC in next st, SC 1, 2 SC in next st, SC 1. 7 sts. Row 2: Ch 1, SC 1, 2 SC in next st, SC 2, 2 SC in next st, SC 2. 9 sts. Row 3: Ch 1, SC 2, 2 SC in next st, SC 2, 2 SC in next st, SC 2, 2 SC in next st. 12 sts. Row 4: Ch 1, SC 2, 2 SC in next st, SC 3, 2 SC in next st, SC 3, 2 SC in next st, SC 1. 15 sts. Row 5: Ch 1, 2 SC in first st, \*SC 3, 2 SC in next st\* 3 times, SC 1, 2 SC in last stitch, turn and stitch 9 more sc across the top and then 2 in the last st. 31 sts total. Fasten off. With Dark Brown, make chocolate chips with French knots. Stitch the flat edge of the Cookie to the Mouth. Cookie Monster is a product of Sesame Workshop.
