UK Double knit wool (I used Stylecraft Special Double Knit) A= main colour (white)80gms B= contrast one(black)15gms C= contrast two (silver)15gms Size 3.25mm(UK10) & 4mm(UK8) 4 buttons Note. The term slip 1p used in this patternmeansslip1stitchpurlways.
Cardigan Back
With size 3.25mm needles and main colour A cast on 40 sts Work 8 rows single rib (K1,P1) Change to size 4mm needles and work 2 rows stocking stitch. Now work the 6 Main Pattern rows as follows Row 1. Using B, K2,\*(slip 1p , K2) rep from \* to last 2 sts, slip 1p, k1 Row 2. Using B, Purl across all stitches(including the slipped stitches) Row 3. Using C ,K1 \* (slip 1p, k2) rep from \* to end Row 4. Using C ,purl across all stitches(including the slipped stitches) Row 5. Using A, K3 \* (slip 1p, k2 ) rep from \* to last st, k1 Row 6. Using A Purl across all stitches(including the slipped stitches) Repeat these 6 pattern rows once more . Break off the contrast colours and continue to work the rest in main only. Now Knit 4 rows. Next work the upper part as follows; Row 1. Knit Row 2. P2, k1, \*(p4, k1) repeat from \* to last 2sts, p2 Rows 3 through 24, work as rows 1 and 2. Row 25. Divide the remaining sts on to 3 pins for use later ,as follows; 1st 10 sts for right shoulder,2nd 20 sts for back neck and 3rd 10 sts for left shoulder.
Right Front
Using size 3.25mm needles cast on 18sts and work 8 rows in single rib. Change to size 4mm needles and work 2 rows stocking stitch Now work the 6 Main Pattern rows as follows Row 1. Using B, K2,\*(slip 1p , K2) rep from \* to last stitch, k1 Row 2. Using B, Purl across all stitches(including the slipped stitches) Row 3. Using C,K1 \* (slip 1p,k2) rep from \* to last 2 sts, slip 1p, k1. Row 4. Using C ,purl across all stitches(including the slipped stitches) Row 5. Using A, K3 \* (slip 1p, k2 ) rep from \* to end. Row 6. Using A Purl across all stitches(including the slipped stitches) Repeat these 6 pattern rows once more . Break off the contrast colours and continue to work the rest in main only. Now Knit 4 rows. \*\*\* Next work the upper part as follows; Row 1. Knit Row 2. P2,k1, p4,k1,p4,k1,p4 k1 Rows 3 through 16, work as rows 1 and 2. Shape front neck: Cast off 4 sts pattern to end=14sts Work 1 row pattern. Now continuing in pattern Dec 1 stitch at neck edge on every row till 10 sts remain. Pattern 2 further rows straight and leave sts on a pin for right shoulder.

Left Front
Work as right front from start to \*\*\* Next work the upper part as follows; Row 1. Knit Row 2. k1,p4,k1,p4,k1,p4,k1,p2 Rows 3 through 17, works as rows 1 and 2. Shape front neck Cast off 4 sts ,pattern to end =14sts Now continuing in pattern Dec 1 stitch at neck edge on every row till 10 sts remain. Pattern 2 further rows straight . Now do a 3 needle bind-off with these sts and the stitches left on the pin for the left back shoulder. Repeat this bind-off process with right shoulder stitches.
Sleeves
With size 3.25mm needles cast on 28 sts and work 5 rows rib Row 6. \*(Rib 5, m1,) rep from \*to last 3 sts, rib 3. = 33sts Change to size 4mm needles and work 2 rows stocking stitch. Row 1. Using B, K2,\*(slip 1p , K2) rep from \* to last stitch, k1 Row 2. Using B, Purl across all stitches(including the slipped stitches) Row 3. Using C,K1 \* (slip 1p, k2) rep from \* to last 2sts, slip 1p, k1. Row 4. Using C,purl across all stitches(including the slipped stitches) Row 5. Using A, K3 \* (slip 1p, k2 ) rep from \* to end Row 6. Using A Purl across all stitches(including the slipped stitches). Break off the contrast yarns and continue in main colour only K4 rows. Now work the upper part , as follows; Row 1. Knit Row 2. P1,\*(k1, p4) repeat from \* to last 2sts , k1, p1. Rows 3 through 14 ,work as rows 1 and 2. Cast Off.
Neck edge
With right side facing.Using size 3.25mm needles,pick up and knit 15sts up right front neck edge,then knit 9sts from the 20sts left on back neck pin,k2 tog, k9,then pick up & knit 15sts down left front edge =49sts Work 5 row p1 ,k1 rib and cast off.
Front Edges
Left front edge. With right side facing, using size 3.25mm needles,Pick up and knit 39 sts down left front edge and work 6 rows p1, k1 rib. Right front edge. With right side facing, using size 3.25mm needles,Pick up and knit 39 sts up right front edge and work 2 rows p1, k1 rib. Row 3. work buttonholes, Rib 2,\* (Cast off 2sts , Rib 9, ) rep from \* to last 4sts, Cast off 2,rib 2) =4 buttonholes Row 4. Rib 2,\*(Cast on 2sts, rib 9) rep from \* to last 4sts, Cast on 2, rib 2. Work a further 2 rows in rib and cast off. To Make up.Fold the sleeves in half lengthwise, to find the centre of the cast off edge, and place this point,right sides together at the outside shoulder edge of the cardigan. Now stitch both halves evenly down to the armhole. Now join the sleeve seam and side seam with right sides together to complete. Sew on 4 buttons.

Hat
Ear Flaps make 2
Use size 4mm needles throughout. Cast on 5sts using Main colour and work 2 rows stocking stitch . Row 3. .Knit increasing 1 st at each end Row 4. Purl. Repeat last 2 rows 2 times more =11 sts. Stocking stitch a further 2 rows. Break off yarn and leave stitches on a pin. Now start the main hat section; You will need to change the needlesfrom hand to hand whilst working this cast on row. Cast on 10 sts. then knit 11 sts held on pin for 1st ear flap, now cast on a further 24sts, then knit 11 sts held on pin for 2nd ear flap and finally cast on another 10sts. You will now have 66 sts.on the needle. K3 rows Work 2 rows stocking stitch. Now work the 6 Main Pattern rows as follows Row 1. Using B, K2,\*(slip 1p , K2) rep from \* to last stitch, k1 Row 2. Using B, Purl across all stitches(including the slipped stitches) Row 3. Using C,K1 \* (slip 1p,k2) rep from \* to last 2 sts, slip 1p, k1. Row 4. Using C,purl across all stitches(including the slipped stitches) Row 5. Using A, K3 \* (slip 1p, k2 ) rep from \* to end. Row 6. Using A Purl across all stitches(including the slipped stitches) Repeat these 6 pattern rows once more . Break off the contrast colours and continue to work the rest in main only. Knit 8 rows.
Shape Crown
Row 1. k3 \*(k2tog ,k6,)rep from \* to last 7 sts ,k2tog,k5 2nd and alt rows KNIT Row 3. K3,\*(k2tog,k5,)rep from \* to last 6sts,k2tog, k4 Row 5. k3,\*(k2tog,k4,) rep from \* to last 5sts,k2tog,k3 Row 7. k3,\*(k2tog,k3,) rep from \* to last 4sts, k2tog,k2 Row 9. k3 ,\*(k2tog,k2,) rep from \* to last 3sts ,k2tog,k1 Row 11. k3, \*(k2tog k1,) rep from \* to last2 sts,k2tog Row 12. k2tog all along row =9 sts Break off yarn and thread through remaining sts.,draw up tightly and sew up back seam.
Ties
Cut 6 equal lengths of yarn 22 inches long (2 of each colour).Thread one of each colour through each ear flap (you now have 6 x 11 inch strands on each ear flap)and plait these together to your desired length and knot and trim them leaving a fringed end.
