Whirled

This simple cabled headband was made to match my daughter Brooklyn's "Swirled" cardigan. It measures 19 inches around when buttoned up but can easily be made longer by adding more cable repeats.
Materials:
1 skein of Knit Picks Wool of The Andes worsted weight yarn Size5us $\left(3.75\,\mathrm{mm}\right)$ needles (or size needed to obtain gauge.) Cableneedle 2buttons Tapestry needle Gauge: 5 stitches $\mathbf{\nabla}_{|=1}$ inch in stockinette stitch Finished Measurements: Width $^{-2}$ inches Length ${\bf\nabla}^{=19}$ inches

$\mathbf{K}{=}\mathbf{K}\mathbf{n}\mathbf{i}\mathbf{t}$ $\mathrm{P}{=}$ Purl St/Sts $,=$ Stitch/stitches Yo $\r=$ Yarn over K2tog $\left'=$ Knit 2ststogether $\mathrm{C}8\mathrm{F}{=}$ Cable 8 front (Slip next 4 sts onto cable needle and hold at front of work, k next 4 sts from left-hand needle, then k sts from cable needle.)
Directions:
Cast on 16 sts. Work in garter st for 4 rows. Next row-K3, k2tog, yo, k6, k2tog, yo, k3. Work in garter st for 5 rows. Cable Pattern Repeat: Rows 1,3,5,7,11-K2, p2, k8, p2, k2 Rows 2,4,6,8,10,12-K4, p8, k4 Row 9-K2, p2, C8F, p2, k2 Knit cable pattern repeat 9 times, or until desired length. Work in garter stitch for 10 rows. Bind off all sts.
Finishing:
Weave in all loose ends. Block. Sew on buttons.
