This washcloth pattern would also make a great blanket square! If you changed to 4.5mm needles and made four of these squares a month, by the end of the year you would have enough for a blanket! You could then do two borders, like in the washcloth pattern, and the result would be a gorgeous abstract blanket! Materials: ·3.5mm needles · DK 10% cotton yarn, in four colours For the show knit I used:

Instructions:
· With Colour B, cast on 25sts. Knit 4 rows · Change to colour A, and work in Stocking Stitch for 14 rows · Change to colour B, knit 4 rows · Change to colour C, work in Stocking Stitch for 14 rows · Change to colour B, knit 4 rows · Cast off until one stitch remains on the needle, then evenly pick up and knit down the side of the washcloth until you have 21 sts on the needles. ·Knit 3 rows, cast off. Do the exact same down the opposite side of the washcloth · Using colour D, pick up and knit 22 sts down the side of the washcloth. · Row 1 (WS): \*K2, P2; rep from \* until 2 sts remain, K2 · Row 2 (RS): \*P2, K2; rep from \* until 2 sts remain, P2 repeat this two row pattern once more repeat row 1 · Cast off in pattern Do the exact same on the opposite side of the washcloth · Pick up and knit 36 sts across the white cast off edge · Work in 2x2 rib for 4 rows · Cast off in pattern Do the exact same on the white cast on edge.
