By Deb Mulder Yarn: Fingering Weight of your choice. I would recommend a semisolid or solid color. For the model, I used Yarn Love's Scarlett O'Hara $60\%$ Superwash Merino Wooll $30\%$ Bamboo / $10\%$ Nylon). Color Shown: Milk Chocolate. I used 125 yds for the cowl. Needles: US 3 / $3.25\;\mathsf{m m}\cdot16"$ circular needle US 4 / 3.5 mm -16" circular needle Notions: Stitch Marker $(\mathsf{m})$ , tapestry needle Gauge: $24\;\mathsf{s t}/30\;\mathsf{r o w s}=4"$ in pattern blocked Gauge is not critical for this project. Finished Size: 22" circumference at bottom edge 20" circumference at top edge 7" high, with larger needle. Notes: Pattern is multiple of 18 stitches Abbreviations: P-Purl K-Knit K3tog-Knit 3 stitches together Yo- yarn over Sl1-k2tog-psso - slip one stitch knitwise, knit 2 stitches together and pass the slipped stitch over. Pattern: With size US 4 circular needle, Cast on 126 stitches using your favorite method. Join in the round being careful not to twist and place marker. Edging rows: Row 1: knit Row 2: purl Row 3: knit

Begin leaf pattern:

Row 1 and all odd rows: \*P2, K 16 \*repeat to end. Row 2: \*P2, k9, yo,k1, yo, k3, sl1-k2tog-psso, \* repeat to end. Row 4: \*P2, k10, yo, k1, yo, k2, sl1-k2tog-psso,\*repeat to end. Row 6: \*P2, k3tog, k4,yo,k1,yo, k3, [yo,k1] twice, sl1-k2tog-psso, \*repeat to end. Row 8: \*P2, k3tog, k3, yo, k1, yo, k9,\*repeat to end. Row 10: \*P2, k3tog, k2, yo, k1, yo, k10,\* repeat to end. Row 12: \*P2, k3tog, [k1, yo] twice, k3, yo, k1, yo, k4, sl1-k2tog-psso, \*repeat to end. repeat rows 1-12, 1 more time. Switch to size US 3 needle and repeat rows 1-12, 2 more times.

Edging Rows:

Row 1: knit Row2:purl Row 3: knit Bind off all stitches. Weave in ends. Soak in tepid water, rll gently in towel, block, dry to desired size.

The beaded lace version was done in Malabrigo Lace yarn in Olive, with size 8 beads added to the knit stitch between yarnovers. One extra repeat was added so 144 stitches were cast on and the same size US 3 and US 4 were used.
