Ruffled Shawlette
A sassy, frilly accent piece for warmth and fun!

Materials:
1 skein of KFl, Starstruck, (or approximately 40 yards of similarly constructed fashion yarn such as: Circulo, Sensual Paeté; KFI, Ripple OR Tinseltown; Katia, Ronda; Plymouth, Joy Prism; Modal, Papillon; Trendsetter, Cha Cha or Crystal Palace Yarns, TuTu or TuTu Lamé.) 1 skein of Berroco, Vintage (or approximately 150 yds. of any worsted weight yarn). Size 9 circular knitting needles, 40 inches in length or longer.
Construction:
The fashion yarn is wide, flat ribbon yarn. Attached to one side of it are little boxes of strong, thin yarn that you knit. The Shawlette begins from the bottom and is knit up. Starting with the fashion yarn, rows of ruffles are knit with slight decreases. You can keep going and use the entire ball of yarn, if you wish, remembering to fold over the last two stitches. Stitches are slipped to the center and the worsted weight yarn is knit in short rows. To cast on: Fold over the edge and overlap 2 boxes to tuck in rough edge. Continue casting on by slipping single stitches onto your needle from the back to the front for the desired number of stitches.
Directions:
Cast on 200 stitches. Wear it as a scarf, collar, cowl or shawlette. Fasten it in any way with an amazing shawl pin. Center the widest part in front and throw the ends over your shoulders for a sassystatement. A very interesting and fun knitting experience, the Ruffled Shawlette is just the right accessory for any occasion. It is knit from the bottom up first with one skein of KFI, Starstruck, then with one skein of Berroco, Vintage. It is approximately 8 inches wide from top to bottom at the center of the widest part and 48 inches long.

Rows 1-3: Knit through the top of each box. Decrease evenly over the next five rows to end up with 120 stitches at the end of Row 9. Row 4: Knit, decreasing approximately every 20th stitch. (Knit two together to decrease.) 190 stitches remain. Row 5: Knit, decreasing approximately every 15th stitch. (Knit two together to decrease.) 177 stitches remain. Row 6: Knit, decreasing approximately every 10th stitch. (Knit two together to decrease.) 159 stitches remain. Row 7: Knit, decreasing approximately every 9th stitch. (Knit two together to decrease.) 141 stitches remain. Row 8: Knit, decreasing approximately every 7th stitch. (Knit two together to decrease.) 120 stitches remain. Row 9: Knit, counting the stitches. Decrease evenly to make sure you have 120 stitches. (Knit two together to decrease.) Continue knitting until all the fashion yarn is used, remembering to fold over the yarn and knit the last two stitches doubled. Slip to the center ten stitches. Begin knitting the worsted weight yarn on stitch 56. You will be adding the worsted weight yarn from the middle of your work in short rows, starting with the ten center stitches and knitting three stitches from the boxes at the end of every row until all the boxes have been knit. This creates a deeper center and semi-circular shape. le next ten stitches with the worsted weight yarn, turn your work and knit back \*When you get to the end of each row, knit the next three stitches, turn and knit back. \* (This is a modified "short row" technique, eliminating the wrapping.) Repeat this process until all the fashion yarn stitches have been knit or "gobbled up". Last 12 rows: Knit allrows, decreasing 1 stitch at the beginning of each row. (Knit two together one time at the beginning of the next 12 rows.)

Bind off using this method: K2, \*Slip both stitches back to the left needle, Knit them TOG through the back, K 1, repeat from \* Fasten scarf with a shawl pin in many different ways for a stunning accessory.
Enjoy!
