To Fit: Newborn (3m, 6m, 9-12m, 18m-24m) Materials:
Cashmere de Cotone: 1- 50g ball. Shown in color 03 Lilac Gauge: 22 sts = 4" using size US 6 (4mm) needles in pattern or size necessary to obtain gauge. Needles: Size US 3 (3.25mm) & 6 (4mm) straight needles.
Edging pattern:
Row 1(WS): Knit. Row 2: Knit. Row 3 & every alt row: Purl. Row 4: K1, \*(yo, k3, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k3, yo, k1); rep from \* to end. Row 6: K4, \*(sl 1, k2tog, psso, k7); rep from \* to last 7 sts, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k4. Row 8: K3, \*(sl 1, k2tog, psso, k5); rep from \* to last 6 sts, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k3: 55, (61, 67, 67, 73) sts. Row 9: Purl. These 9 rows complete the edging pattern. BONNET
Using smaller needles cast on 91, (101, 111, 111, 121) sts and work the 9 rows of edging pattern: 55, (61, 67, 67, 73) sts. Change to larger needles and start Eyelet pattern as follows: Ist row: K1, \*(k2tog, yo, k4); rep from \* to end. 2nd row: Purl. 3rd row: \*(K4, yo, sl 1, k1, psso); rep from \* to last st, k1. 4th row: Purl. These 4 rows form the patt. Cont in pattern until hat measures 4 %2" (4 %, 5, 5, 5 %) from cast on edge ending with a WS row. Work 2 rows in garter st. Shape top Ist row (RS): K1, \*k2tog, k7, (8, 9, 9, 10); rep from \* to end: 49, (55, 61, 61, 67) sts. 2nd row: Knit. 3rd row: K1, \*k2tog, k6, (7, 8, 8, 9); rep from \* to end: 43, (49, 55, 55, 61) sts. 4th row: Knit. 5th row: K1, \*k2tog, k5, (6, 7, 7, 8); rep from \* to end: 37, (43, 49, 49, 55) sts. Continue to decrease 6 sts in this way on every alternate row until 13 sts remain, ending with a WS row. Next row: K1, \*k2tog; rep from \* to end. Break yarn, thread through remaining 7 sts, draw up firmly and fasten off.
FINISHING AND EDGING
Neck Edging: Using smaller needles and lavender and with RS side facing, pick up and k39, (43, 43, 47, 47) sts evenly around lower edge of bonnet excluding edging patt, turn and cast on 16, (19, 19, 22, 22) sts: 55, (62, 62, 69, 69) sts. Work 6 rows in garter st, making a buttonhole in 4th of these rows as follows: k to last 4 sts, yo, k2tog, k2. Bind off knitways. Sew button to end of neck band.Join back seam.
